Currently Gosta and I are trying to work something out, we've got a little progress and we hope to get it working.

Sounds good. One interesting thing I discovered was that the old POSKY 747-400 contact points technically work with the PSS FDE and Mel's model. I say this because the aircraft does not immediatly sink into the ground and crash. Though, they're not usable because the aircraft is sunk way into the ground (nearly to the engines.) Below, are the POSKY contact points as well as a picture of what happens when using them. Hi,I have also found that using just the model and texture folders from Mel's superb 744 with the PSS-747.air and Aircraft.cfg also causes an other problem ... No slats !!!When you put the flaps to setting 1, the slats don't move.I have found Mel's 744 works fine if you use his complete package but once you merge it with PSS the slats stop working. Great work Wac. While I haven't flown the aircraft yet with your new contact points, loading up the aircraft was positive. No sinking or crashing, and the wheels are perfectly on the ground. I have the slat problem also. The contact points work well. The outside trucks are still a little high though and are tilted while on the ground. I used the load edit from PSS right into the config and and havent had any problems that I could see. Did some touch and go's around KLAS and so far so good. Has anyone else had the problem of no beacon lighting?AndrewOh yeah how do you open the cargo door?

Hi Like everyone else, I have had some problems with the PSS panel and Mel's 747. My real problem is that I can't get the ILS to track correctly. I get the Glideslope to work, but the localizer will not lock in. Anyone else seen this problem and is there a cure?Bob JohnsonKDEN

Hello everyone,For people who have the missing beacon lights, copy the lights section from the Meljet FDE and paste it over the PSS one.I am trying to adjust the weight. 450000 lbs is almost an empty B747-400.

For the flaps, as usual, try copying the flaps section from the Meljet one and paste it over to the cfg you are using. It should work.

After reading all the replies, I'm left with the need to put my 2 cents worth. I have Mel's 747 and I also use PSS v2 panel with the updates and the aircraft works fine. Absolutly no need to modify the contact points. If there was a need, you would only need to modify the points for the gears and not the rest.If you look at the reference datum position on the PSS, its set at (0)zero [dead center]. On Mel's they're set at 83.5 ft forward of the center. If you took PSS data and applied it to Mel's, this is the reason that your missing the lights/position in the wrong place and that the aircraft sinks nose or tail first into the ground.Anytime you change the dynamics of an aircraft the first thing you look for is the refernce datum position. Lets say that the original file is set by the designer at +10 of the center. The file you want to use is 0. ALL referenced parts (lights engines tanks etc) need to be changed to the original designers specs. In other words add 10 to all the reference points that represent forward or aft of the center of gravity. Same rule applies to height points.I've done this before a number of times and what I've learned for the most part is mainly the only things that need to be changed are the engine paramters and parts of the geometry specs. Also in the air file itself many of the hidden autopilot settings that don't show up on the config file. I've only found so far (I haven't had enough time with it yet) is that the aircraft is severly overpowered. All the flaps and slats and reversers etc. work fine. One other note, in cases where the engines feel overpowered, if reducing the jet thrust scalar doesn't reduce power enough, increase the engine intake size. smaller the size, the greater the power, larger the size, less power or shall i say thrust?So I hope that some of this helps. All these replies and no one is solving the problem, just creating more unneccessary work. Start over by putting it back the way it was with the original contact points. Then adjust the weight, original config has a general setting with plenty of weight. If you still want a more dispersed weight with PSS load edit, then remember that you'll have to adjust ALL of the reference points to match the original center of gravity, otherwise you'll be severly out of balance. EVYRYTHING WORKS OK, except the cargo door. I made a quick check for the autopilot, loading a flight plan and departing from LCLK to LGAV. Everything went OK, VNAV, LNAV, all smooth. I haven't tried though the autoland because I didn't finish the flight. One thing though. I set the FMC as 450,000 pounds ZFW and according to that I should rotate at about 132kts leaving the runway at 153kts. (from what I remember). Well, I was able to rotate at about 170 kts.
