January 2, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Steve,Which drive letter, on your FS machine, have you mapped to C: on the WideFS machine? You are running the connector app on the FS machine, correct? Please email me at [email protected] for more rapid communication on this issue. Thanks Steve!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 3, 200422 yr Hi Damian,I have used your new connector program and all went well, no error messages. However, when I try to run ActiveRadar at my FS2004 machine I only get a black box, no further info, no clickable spots, ... AS2004 is active at my second PC. I have a screenshot of my FS2004 PC attached. For your information: I have installed AS2004 inC:Program FilesAS2004, made the AS2004 folder sharable over the network, and at my FS2004 PC I have mapped network drive F: to the AS2004 folder of my second PC.Any help would be appreciated,Kind Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
January 3, 200422 yr Nico,Do you have Weather Center installed? If yes, then it needs to be un-installed.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 3, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Nico,Did you get a message that the last step failed? You should have, as the files for the ActiveRadar program were never actually copied. This is because you must map to the root drive on the WideFS machine, NOT the AS2004 folder. I will try to make this easier in the program processes, as this has happened a few times. Let me know if that does it for you.. thanks!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 3, 200422 yr Hi Damian,I now have mapped to the root drive. I had to make C: sharable, (something that ought to be avoided for security reasons...)However, stil the same problem, altough I now got an error message saying that it failed to copy the ActiveRadar directory. So I did that myselves and now I get a working RadarScreen. Nice!Another thing that surprised me over the day: I always get the same weather at EHAM, and it differs from VATSIM. I have checked for VATSIM weather in the Options... The WxRE engine for FS2002 is getting the right VATSIM weather. How come?Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
January 3, 200422 yr Hi Damian,EHAM weather 'problem' solved, wrong options setting.Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
January 5, 200422 yr Hi Damian / AllI would appreciate some help installing Active Radar. Would some kind soul please review what I am doing and tell me where I am going wrong:FS9 runs from F:FS04 on my 'main' FS pc.AS2004.exe is located in E:Flightsim StuffActiveSky 2004ModulesActiveSky2004 on the remote pc.I have mapped the E drive of the remote pc to the 'X' drive of the main pc.On the main pc I now navigate to X:Flightsim StuffActiveSky 2004ModulesActiveSky2004 where I find the file ActiveRadarConnector.exe and double click on it.The second dialog box which appears says: "Select your remote AS2004 folder (where ActiveRadar.dll resides). Click next to install to this folder or click change to install to a different folder."Now, the file ActiveRadar.dll currently resides in X:Flightsim StuffActiveSky 2004Modules, i.e. E:Flightsim StuffActiveSky 2004Modules on the remote pc. Is this where I am going wrong? This is the folder I am directing the installation routine to but nothing is being transferred to the main pc's FS04Modules folder. Many thanks for your help ...Paul Croft10 miles SE of EGLL Paul Croft 15 mls north of EGKK
January 6, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Paul did you try connector v2? Or is this with the first version? Thanks!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 6, 200422 yr Hi DamianNow up and running OK thanks. Thought I'd tried connector v2 last night but, when I ran it today, the dialog boxes I got were not ones I remember from last night. The installation worked OK apart from the ActiveRadar folder failing to copy but a manual transfer sorted that out. Everything now seems sorted and, so far, tests are looking very favourable. Pse also see my other reply to you in the other thread I started. Hopefully it will help to keep that msg bumped up the list a bit and keep one or two other msgs further down :-)Paul Croft10 miles SE of EGLL Paul Croft 15 mls north of EGKK
January 17, 200422 yr This failed for me also (or partially failed). Mapped Y: to the root of my WideFS PC. Ran ActiveRadarConnector2.exe and browsed to Y:Program FilesActiveSky 2004ModulesActiveSky2004 where my AS2004.exe is located. Then the installer said it had successfully found my FS2004 installation. I clicked on Next and it said "Please wait while copying files" and it looked as though it was doing something for a moment before displaying "Runtime Error 75: file/path error".Upon inspection, I noticed that the installer had placed ActiveRadar.dll into the FS2004MODULES folder and a sub folder called ActiveRadar had been created, but its contents were empty. Subsequent runs of the installer yielded the same runtime error.I gambled and just copied the whole ActiveRadar folder from my WideFS box to the FS machine. So we'll see what happens :)J
