Massive Wind Problems

Featured Replies

I don't know if this has been addressed yet... but today I fired up the ole AS2004 and when I got above three or four thousand feet I encountered about a 250 knt headwind and turbulence and dropping the temp to -90C... renedering my aircraft unflyable and shutting down the engines... I looked at the program itself and for the wind it had something like this...FL030: 225/00 (-273.0) FL060: 225/00 (-273.0) FL090: 225/00 (-273.0)FL120: 225/00 (-273.0) FL180: 225/00 (-273.0) FL240: 225/00 (-273.0)FL300: 225/00 (-273.0) FL340: 225/00 (-273.0) FL390: 225/00 (-273.0)Please help as I love AS and love flying in real weather... I encountered this issue a few months ago and some said the database had become corrupted or some sort and they fixed it and all was well...Thanks,[email protected]'s my config settings://AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 5160WindowPosY = 5310DefaultWeatherFolder = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 80OnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -6TAFProcessing = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE

Hi Anthony,Seems to be a data problem. Your's is the 3rd post on the matter. Let's all watch and see if it clears itself up. Go Red Wings.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Same here. My flight ends few seconds after takeoff :(Hope Damian take a look at it ASAP.

Regards,

Radek

It's been like this for several hours now. Please fix so I can get in the air :) Last saved wx from server is ok(221250Z). Think it started sometime in the afternoon.

Got the same trouble guys. 200+ knots wind and overspeed, Crashhhhh.I had just finished a complete re-install of XP and FS2004. I thought I had screwed something up until I read the forum.

Just took a quick flight and things seem normal again. Let you know if things change.

Well, still having probs... and by looking at some of the other posts I'm not the only one... it seems that the wind at different levels isn't updating right or some kind of error in the code somewhere... because when I boot up AS2004 and custom fetch several different locations (different areas) they all come up the same...Anthony

I'm STILL having the same problems as stated before and it has happened to me for the past week. And all the responses I'm hearing is that oh its a data problem... That's all well and good but where is the data problem originating? Are you guys fixing it or waiting until it fixes itself? I'm just starting to get frustrated with a product I purchased and it not functioning properly due to circumstances out of my control.Anthony

Hi Anthony,Sorry you are still having troubles. First thing, please check and make sure you are in Online Mode. Next, please know that since Thursday afternoon, there have been no other reports of this nature either here or by e-mail. Third, we know that //// in the winds report does cause trouble and are working on a fix. Also, the data problem exists on source where we pull our data from. We do not have control over that source. Please keep us updated and I'll keep trying to help you out.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

April 27, 2004 Recenly I have been crashing upon trying to land about 70 % of the time. All is well comming down on ILS until about 200 to 1000 feet when, without warning a very strong downdraft (wind shear?) slams me into the ground. After sitting in my chair for a 1-2 hour flight this is NOT the way I want to end the flight... ruins my whole day. I'm flying the 737-700 with ACTIVESKY 2004 AND FSUIPC engauged. I think this started when I begain using Active Sky 2004. Is there an "ajustment" in FSUIPC (or Active Sky) that will stop these very strong winds? I don't want to have to go back to default weather in FS2004. Thanks for your help.jerry

Hi Jerry,Looks like wake turbulence to me. First make sure you are using V1.1. Then under Options you can disable Wake Turbulence.Edit: Next time please start a new topic. It makes my job a little easier!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
