  1. Bind a key or button to "operation/Freeze the ground speed of the simulation" then press it.
  2. After release they provided hotfixes at the speed of M0.75 but then it suddenly stalled - the last 1.0.7 update was in June. According to thread at X-Pilot forums team should resume work this month. At this point you need to be careful with FMC and set up everything in correct order, otherwise chances are high you'll see Gizmo "soft error" or VNAV issues. The current count of acknowledged bugs on the forums is 1917. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  3. I have to admit i've never been a fan of and get the idea behind streaming. Everytime i watch a random flightsim stream i have a hard time believing what my eyes are seeing. Majority don't care if they bust flap speeds, fly unstabilized approach or do a barrel roll in 747 on final. What counts most is the amount of subs and donations. Yet, i hope it's not representative of an average flight simmer For me flight sims have always been source of satisfaction. Entertainment factor is a "side effect". Think that's why we call them simulators, not games right? If it wasn't for these selected few developers who came up with more and more complex, realistic add-ons, simming would become boring too soon and i would have never ended up in real aviation, propably ... To make matters worse, my previous job was in computers (still coding in my free time for fun). This makes my evaluation of every new payware add-on i buy and install very instant and strict. Usually if i don't find anything out of place or buggy in the first 5 minutes, chances are high it's an exceptional add-on (wish it would happen more often!) Seeing how much praise good developers (minority) get on the forums i think it's not all lost yet. The key - in my humble opinion - is for the customers/reviewers to call a spade a spade.
  4. I totally agree with you, ayousry. I have been simming for about 24 years now and totally converted to X-Plane 5 years ago. I can't go back to FS now because of the flightmodel and the overall "feel of flight" (also as you mentioned sloped runways etc.). On the other hand i feel sick looking at x-plane payware developers. Apart from very few exceptions (IXEG, LES, PMDG, Simcoders) - this will sound harsh to many - i consider majority of them SCAM. They build the hype, release very buggy/unfinished products, do not provide enough (if any) support. And then same developer months later announce another super-realistic airliner that gets released under the same "business model" as before (get the money and basically disappear). The reviews are praising them on release, as if none of the reviewers ever read any POH (with understanding) in their life. I'm sure many will disagree with me and jump in to defend their developer of choice. But that's the way i see it and i finally had to let it out. I have tons of payware aircraft addons laying on my HDD that i don't even bother to install anymore...
  5. Thanks for your help! Submitted bug report to LR. Thanks Manuel! I guess this is one of the most peculiar X-Plane bugs i've seen to date Was a pain to track down in a complex X-Plane installation full of 3rd party stuff ...
  6. Thanks Murmur, what's your OS?
  7. Ouch! Spent 3 hours trying to figure out what's going on with my X-Plane installation. Whenever i selected Aircraft->Open aircraft my X-Plane would crash. So i started moving every plug-in, one by one, deleting preferences, even moving out gigabytes of add-on sceneries and add-on aircraft out of main X-Plane directory to narrow the issue. Then i installed vanilla X-Plane on another drive, compared folders, disabled Windows Defender etc. I'm shocked to see what turned out to be the problem... Some time ago i've created directory inside X-Plane to backup some stuff before i made minor changes. The directory name i chose was "1" (don't ask, early 90s habit from MS-DOS). I can reproduce this every time on my PC, be it 10.45 or 10.50rc3. Can you guys please try this out on your X-Plane installation? Every platform is welcome (Windows / MacOS / Linux) - i want to make sure it's not something else playing on my PC before i report this as a bug to LR. 1. create empty folder named "1" inside your main X-Plane directory 2. start X-Plane 3. select Aircraft -> Open aircraft My pure guess is that it's a bug in folder parsing code inside X-Plane... EDIT: in fact the folder name needs to just have single character as a name, be it '2', '8', 'a', 'c', 'z' etc. If you have "QuickFlight Setup" active (where you can select aircraft and location on startup) your X-Plane will crash when loading, shortly after "Will init world..."
  8. Exactly! It's driving me nuts flying online with real weather (FSGRW+SMP+RWC). Very often (at least here in Europe) METARs report variable winds, but X-Plane wants to kill me instead with something very close to windshear...
  9. Thanks Cameron! Running the same resolution on 980 (not Ti) i'm eager to upgrade to 1080 once non-reference cards will become available again (late July / early August IIRC).
  10. Looks like it's not going to be released on 1 June in Europe...
  11. Must be the reason for Mac version being cheaper
  12. I'm considering replacing my 980 with 1080 because i hit VRAM limit too often. Would love to see some reports about 1080 with X-Plane.
  13. IXEG, Felis Tu-154, PMDG DC-6 ... we've been waiting years for these and they all get released now
  14. Yes, i own every product released by FF so far (none installed at the moment). Don't get me wrong Bill, i'm happy it works for you (and others). Being a simmer for 20+ years now (flying airliners almost exclusively) i cannot fool myself enough to not to notice all those little details FF did wrong. I highly recommend you go and grab IXEG. Get a copy of FCOM for 767 & 737 and compare. Then watch some cockpit videos and compare more. If you have the opportunity, get a jumpseat on the real plane and compare even more The devil is in the details ... IXEG is far from perfect at this point, but the level of attention to details (and support!) is years ahead of what we have had in X-Plane before. It is all a matter of our expectations. We could possibly agree that product XYZ is a poor replica, but then someone else would jump in and disagree saying that it is "a true masterpiece" ...
  15. Fully agree. Never said IXEG = PMDG. It is just the best you can get for X-Plane right now by far, and in my opinion has a great potential to become even better.
  16. From my personal experience none of the FlightFactor offerings are comparable to PMDG products. The one and only study-sim jetliner available for X-Plane at this time is the previously mentioned IXEG 737-300.
  17. Not sure what ASN is, Jose? ActiveSky Network? I'm not FSX/P3D user neither. When i bought PSX, i made a couple of flights using XP10+PSX combo (xview) - until i found my winds at altitude were totally off. Well, X-Plane already has solid world winds aloft simulation, thanks to 3rd party weather addons. I have been using FSGRW for quite a while and it works well - winds are set according to real world forecast charts (same as PFPX etc.).
  18. PSX is the best study-sim i have seen in my entire sim experience. Unfortunately, lack of real winds aloft is a gamebreaker for me It has been around half a year since i last checked for a solution to this (none found). Has anything changed in this regard recently?
  19. Good news! NVidia decided to give us "Allow desktop capture" option back in GeForce Experience 2.10.x (beta at the moment). New features: • Windowed mode support** for Instant Replay, Record, Broadcast, and Screenshot. • Desktop capture support** for Instant Replay, Record, Broadcast, and Screenshot. This also requires latest 361.43 driver.
  20. http://www.x-plane.com/?article=x-plane-10-45-release-notes Features for Beta 2: Excluding objects by airport IDFixed for Beta 2: Overriding throttles on p0 no longer overrides ALL aircraft (XPD-6154). XPCreateWidget and XPLMSpeakString work when starting “cold and dark”. Refactor of text to speech API so that plugin and misc speech is not muted when avio bus is off (XPD-6145). Taxi sign errors in log.txt (XPD-6147). Scissors error on scrollers and text fields in plane-maker (XPD-6155). Fix for period in the wrong place in DRM error message (XPD-6124).
  21. Same here, had to check if it's there for real Looking at Street View from the bridge near Narvik i couldn't spot the cable, but then i found it's marked on the Visual Approach Chart.
  22. Haven't flown REP Centurion in a while so i opted for a quick checkride from Skagen (ENSK) to Narvik (ENNK). Think i'll continue deeper into the mainland to explore more of Norway Pro goodness.
  23. I hope you're not getting tired of making pro packs anytime soon, Tony  And since you teased pro scenery covering our homeland (in the screenshots forum), i can't wait to get my hands on it. Dzięki Kolego!
