Hi,That is not proper behavior.. 20 to 3 miles in an instant? Check your options if this is the case... If you can re-produce this (and have verified the actual vis experienced is indeed switching instantly from 20 to 3) please let me know, I would like to try to re-produce...Now, switching from a station showing 10SM (perhaps 20sm actual) to a station showing 5sm, that will cross the 9.9 threshold and the horizon draw color will go from blue to gray instantly upon going less than 9.9999SM. It could appear vis is going from 20 to 3 instantly but in reality it is smoothly transitioning from 20 to 10, then the hard shift at 9.9, then smoothly down to 5, but anything less than 9.9SM in FS9 will appear a bit hazy/fogged, thus the problematic effect.. If you'd like to force IMC conditions (or whatever the dest is reporting) earlier on approach (so you get the full ILS or LOC approach to desired runway), then use "force destination wx zone" feature. Of course IMC means vis is under 3SM or ceiling less than 1000ft.. The dest must be report under this to have full IFR approaches in effect.. i.e. 2SM OVC009. If conditions are VFR, they're going to give you the visual to the wind-favored runway unless you ask for something else.Best,

I will digest that and try your suggestions. Just now I was flying into los vegas and at city limits could easily see the entire city and the runways at Nellis. Then bam, white out with vis about 3 miles. Makes it tricky flying a ill tempered f-104.

Damian, never a doubt in my mind. I really have no idea what all the fuss was about. Great job, look forward to continued support and use of this fine product. We should search for a positive in any adverse situation. I say "things always work out in the end..."Best Regards,Tom
