September 14, 200520 yr I have ASV, so am I cleared to go to add/remove programs and delete AS2004 4.5 and it won't cause any issues? I've had ASV since it came out and I think I would have deleted the last version if I knew it wasn't going to be a headache, but I guess something tells me it's going to be. Was wondering if anyone else could confirm? Thanks,Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
September 14, 200520 yr Jeff,From personal experience DO NOT delete AS 2004.5.I did it then ASV could not find a dll file. And reinstall the ASV from an upgrade package cannot work if it doesn't find the old AS 2004.5.Leave it as it is. Or ask Jim what can you delete or what to do before deleting.Roger Roger See my specs in my profile
September 14, 200520 yr Author Hey thanks Roger, I knew it was a bad idea.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
September 14, 200520 yr Hi Jeff,Many AS2004 users have done this. Uninstall AS2004. Run your Full Install of ASV (Yes, it is on your hard drive) and choose Repair. Any missing files will be replaced and ASV will run great!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 14, 200520 yr Not disagreeing with anyone but I removed AS2004.5 and have since reinstalled ASV from scratch several times when I had a problem I thought was ASV related. When You run ASV the first time it puts the install file in a folder called " ASV Install Files" The only thing I did not uninstall when I uninstalled AS2004.5 from the ADD Remove program was ASV-Upgrade from AS2004.5. THat is where the files I mentioned above are so if you uninstall it you then have a problem.
September 15, 200520 yr Jeff, You got an answer from Jim. Then I suppose it is safe by following his advice.Roger Roger See my specs in my profile
September 16, 200520 yr I no longer have 2004.5 on my HDD; I un-installed it and ran repair just like they state and everything is just fine and dandy.
September 16, 200520 yr What is the issue at stake here? I mean to say is removing it beneficial to performance or is it just a case of wanting to save disc space?RegardsPaul
September 16, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi, both can be installed, no advantage to remove as4.5 only to save disc space.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
