December 19, 200520 yr HiCurrently flying KIAH to EGKK in the PSS Boring 777. Strangely I haven't seen a cloud for 7 hours of the flight and think there must be something wrong with my settings. The present METAR is:EIKN 190330Z 15003KT 9999 FEW025 SCT050 04/03 Q1022 NOSIG RMK AUTOGEN ASVWhich I would have thought showed some clouds between 2500 and 5000 ft coverage if I am reading the few025 and sct050 correctly. In the right hand side of the ASV interface this is interpreted as:Wind: 150 True, 3 KtsVis: 9999 Meters, 10 SMClouds: NonePrecip: NoneTemp: 4C Dew: 3CPressure: 1022.00 mb, 30.18 inchesAnd accordingly I am getting clear skies.I was wondering whether there is a problem somewhere or if I am misreading the metar. Surely there should be cloud between 2500 and 5000 which should be visible? Thanks John John Hewson
December 19, 200520 yr Author Sorry did not meant to imply the PSS 777 is boring!! Its a great product Typo, meant Boeing of courseJohn John Hewson
December 19, 200520 yr Hi,The interface does look to be incorrect. However, how far from the satation were you? Anything greater than 2 miles means that a blending of stations is used and you may not see clouds. I just pulled EIKN weather and things look to be OK!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
December 19, 200520 yr Author Thanks for the replyI was 200 miles away; but the problem is I was getting this all the way from the states even close to the weather stations ; just no variationa at all except clear skies whatever the METAR readThanksJohn John Hewson
December 19, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi John,Does this problem persists? If so please share your asv.ini file. It almost looks like cloud layers are disabled since the decoded wx shows 0 clouds yet the METAR does indeed have valid layers specified. Decoded wx display uses the actual wx processor to decode the information, and having cloud layers = 0 would result in this kind of effect.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 19, 200520 yr Author Hi DamianI think the problem is solved. I found two things:-1) Triplicate copies of FSUIPC; removed the two in the ASV folders and left the newest version in the main modules folder2) no entry at all next to the Cloud Layers =; changed this to 5 and now I do in fact get to see the clouds. Thanks as always for the support. Looking forward to next version. Will advise any further problemsThanksJohn John Hewson
December 20, 200520 yr I to found an FSUIPC entry in the ASV folder and one in the FS modules folder. Deleted the one in the ASV folder and left the one in the modules folder. Both were the same version. Is this right?JimCYWG
December 20, 200520 yr Hi All,We just went through this not that long ago! The only one that matters is the FSUIPC.dll in the Modules folder. You could place one in every other folder in FS04 and it wouldn't matter! We include a copy for those new to FS04 who may not have a copy. Jim, you may want to update when Pete releases his newest version very soon.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
December 20, 200520 yr A Freudian slip if I ever heard one! I love heavies, but 7 hours on the sim would get really boring, IMO. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
December 20, 200520 yr I enjoyed an 11 hr flight, RJAA-KLAXI had enough time to do laundry, read a book, enjoy the flight, it was awesome. in the ready for pushback 742. and with ASV, I always had to look out for turbulance and bad weather!
December 20, 200520 yr Author HiAs I mentioned in my correctional post I was not implying the PSS Boing 777 is boring; it works like a dream on my system and I have to say I think those experienceing problems are doing something wrong.I eventually had a perfect landing at EGKK; only problem was as I taxied off the runway FS9 crashed. Luckily I was flying Virtual BA not BA Virtual and wasnt logged in to an ACARS programme! For long distance flights I prefer VBA to BAV as you dont have to send position reports every hour.Anyway also looking forward to the new version of Active SkyJohn John Hewson
December 20, 200520 yr Author Hi JimYes fully agree but I was getting a message as FS9 loaded about having duplicate FSUIPC modules which was why I deleted the others - do realise they dont have any effect on the weather!RegardsJohn John Hewson
