Insufficient Memory with SU2

Featured Replies

On two occasions with SU2. Loaded ASV6 and let the initialization process complete, loaded RC4, attempted to load FS2 and got a dialog stating "Insufficient memory to run FS9" (I paraphrase). Kill ASV6, load FS9 with no problem (task manager shows no memory problems...), load ASV6 and no further error or problem noted. This has only occurred since the SU2 install and only on 2 runs out of 6 or so. What can I send to help analysis if this happens again?DJ

Jim -This issue isn't quite what was reported in that thread - FS9 can't initiate at start up is the problem here; not difficulties after an extended period - note that killing ASV6 allows FS to come up, and that restarting ASV6 after that causes no problems. Nonetheless, I will experiment and report what happens as I continue to use the program. I will start with his suggestion and see what the results are over time. Thanks,DJ

Hi,Yes we have 2 other reports of this we are trying to track down.We are hoping to get some feedback from those users experiencing this... We need them to try disabling "Keep ASG open during auto submits" and see if the problem stops. Anyone experiencing this, please e-mail me at [email protected] with as much information you can about this. We hope to have this solved ASAP. Thanks!

Damian:How much RAM is sufficient? I have 1024 on my PC running RAID-0, P4 with 3.4Mhz, Radion X700, etc. I've really had NO problems running most WX situations, but I do run into some stuttering from time to time in heavy cloud, WX, and within terminal zones, but today (could have been the flight plan), I kept getting lock-ups during an approach into near zero conditions (same flight plan). The lockups may well have been memory shortage, but swapping should have taken care of that. I'm wondering if I should choose to disable as well since I'm using 256 textures. What are the benefits of disabling "Keep ASG open...?" :-hmmm Ron McLeod_CYEGhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg

I run with no real problems with 1 gig of memory on a P4 2.8 GHz machine - I did go to the 128 bit textures, however - they are much smoother. That is especially true around hi-density airports like the Simflyer's stuff.DJ

After taking your suggestion to disable the 'keep ASG open...' option, I've flown 8 multi-hour flights, several in succession, without a repeat of the problem. Looks like your on to something...Thanks,DJ
