January 31, 200620 yr I'd like to roll back to the original AS6 from SU2 until some of the issues are resolved. I got AS6 as an upgrade from ASV and have since deleted ASV. I have the AS6 setup launcher on my hard drive. Can I just run it and overwrite the present version? Should I uninstall first? Mike
January 31, 200620 yr Moderator Just MHO, but with the speed with whicj Damian & Co identify and fix reported problems, I'd just keep it as is - unless your system crashes every time you run AS6 SU2. You'll probably have to reinstall right after you roll back . :)As I said - just MHO, no official statusVicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 1, 200620 yr Hi Mike,What issues? If you are going to start over, then yes, uninstall first and then use your Full version setup launcher.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 1, 200620 yr Hi,Run with Keep ASG running on auto submit turned Off. Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 1, 200620 yr Author My first issue was FS minimizing on its own. That's been solved by unchecking the 'keep ASG running' option. The second is that my frame rates are in the tank. My most recent measurement was with the PMDG 737 in overcast conditions. With AS6 original, I had my usual 18-24 fps, with SU2 update the best I could get was 11-12 and that's with 64 bit clouds and no changes in my AS options. If a fix is in the offing soon, I will hold off rolling back, but it's hard to keep flying with such frame hits. Mike
February 2, 200620 yr Hi,The frame hit may or may not be because of SU2. Besides the option to keep ASG running not much has changed and the textures are the same. We will keep working on this if it is, in fact, SU2.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 2, 200620 yr Author I understand it's hard to track these issues down, but *nothing* was changed on my system except the installation of SU2, so I have to assume it's at fault for the FS minimization and frame rate hits. BTW, the frame rate drop seems to be most pronounced in overcast conditions. I know this is to be expected, but as soon as the weather changes to even heavy broken, the frames jump back up. I don't have overcast enhancement turned on, nor did before. Hope that helps somewhat. Mike
February 2, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi Mike,The problem we've been working on is solely related to the "Keep ASG open" option, and a fix is pending very soon. This creates the "Out of memory" error in only a few isolated cases when the system is already running very low or ASG is open for long periods of time (several hours) while cirrus updates are occuring every update interval. From feedback, this option does not appear to affect but only a very small percentage of users. As mentioned, in the mean time, turning this option off will solve the issue. As for lower frame rates on your system with SU2, this potentially COULD be caused by the default option change of "Force lowest ceiling" from ON to OFF. When ON (as was default before) any additional cloud layers beyond the first ceiling (broken or overcast) would be removed. This would result in better performance in such wx conditions where there are cloud layers being specified above the ceilings. We changed the default option to OFF to provide better-looking cloud-scapes in most circumstances as popularly requested.Other than that there were no changes to the depiction engine/options between original ASv6 and SU2 update. Please try turning this option ON and let us know if your situation improves? Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 3, 200620 yr Author Ok, I'll take a look at that and let you know. I don't recall where that option was set (not on my home computer at the moment) Mike
February 5, 200620 yr Author I finally got to try the suggestion concerning the overcast layer> I couldn't detect any change. In overcast conditions I still am getting fps in th 10-11 range with occasional dips into single digits. As soon as I get out of any overcast, either above or below the aircraft the frames jump right up to the mid to high 20's Mike
February 5, 200620 yr Hi Mike,What cloud resolution are you using? What is your cloud draw distance set to?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 7, 200620 yr Hi Mike,Have you made any changes to your system?Have you added any other software to FS04?Have you tried with DXT Off and other cloud resolutions?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 7, 200620 yr Author The short answer is "no" to all three questions. I had assumed that using the lowest resolution clouds (64) and DXT would give the best performance. It certainly was the case with ASV and the original AS6. I remember one time trying 32 bit clouds, but saw an improvement with DXT. Mike
