Weather updates minimizes FS9 to desktop

Featured Replies

With build v470 of ASv6 weather updates minimizes MSFS and places ASv6 as the foreground application. This mostly happens with no flight plan. Is there an option to have weather updates not minimize flight simulator? Thanks,

Hi,Something has changed in the properties of ASv6. All of AS should run in the background and not take the focus from FS. I am really not sure what to suggest, but possibly a re-install of ASv6.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

When the option to send ActiveGraphics to the system tray is checked and ASv6 updates the weather ActiveGrapics is launched or re-launched which takes the focus from FS9. Even when ActiveGraphics is running whenever the weather is updated another copy is launched. During my testing I had 4 ActiveGraphics icons in the system tray.Any suggestions?

Hi,It could cause ASG to run multiple instances.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi,We have not been able to duplicate this behavior although we have had a report in the past.If ASG is loading multiple instances then there are 2 problems, first is that ASv6 isn't getting a repsonse from ASG to update graphics without reloading the app, and second, when ASG is subsequently fully launched after polling, ASG is failing to notice that it already has an instance running so it creates another.Have no idea what could cause the first problem (Anti-virus delay?), but the second can be due to having modified your process performance counters and/or security settings for process access, effectively disabling them and preventing any program from looking at the process list. ASG's only recovery in such an environment, since Window's won't allow it to see itself, is to load a new instance. If you have disabled process performance counters (sometimes done in attempt to improve FS performance) I would recommend re-enabling which should make the second problem go away and allow normal operation. Please feel free to e-mail me directly at [email protected] for troubleshooting... I'd like to get this solved for you ASAP.Best,

Though not exactly the same problem i do have since the latest beta release that everytime when a VAS point is generated, fs minimizes. Not too big problem for me, a click with the mouse solves it but i would like to know what causes it. There are no multiple instances of asg or anything running, just during VAS point generation it happens... Any ideas?Martin

Hi,That sure is strange. VAS generation is simply doing some basic calculations and sending vertical air information to FSUIPC. Something else is apparently interfering with the Windows focus. Really not sure on this. First report of such behavior.Best,

Ok, no problem, I will try to find out what exactly is happening and if i find something new i will post. As stated before, not a very big problem for me.Martin

I have the same issue after i updated the AS6 with the B479,SU4.After one hour I got up to 6 ASG icons in the sys tray. This is whether I use FSautostart or not.Any news on this subject?Reid

Hi,Have you tried Damian's suggestions? If you have, and this is still happening, then please drop him an e-mail. Thanks! Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

I have the same problem - a VAS will bring FS9 to desktop. However, like MArtin this is easily rectified with a mouseclick. The only time when this can be tricky is when a VAS is generated close to the rwy threshold when landing.RegardsSimon

As I have posted in the past, I've had this problem since the beginning of AS6. The only solution so far is to leave the ASG box unchecked. I always use FSAutostart. I'm a bit uncealr as to Damian's suggestion. Is there a specific process I should not be shutting down to prevent this minimization? Just looking for a specific title so I can edit my FSAutoStart and give the suggestion a shot. Mike

Hi Mike,The other suggestion from Damian is to configure FS Auto Start to start both ASv6 and ASG and then have it close both at the end of your FS session.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
