April 12, 200620 yr Has this happened to any of you recently?I'm using ActiveSky 6, Build 470. In the past weeks and months, I would start asv6, select "online updates" and one of the 2 servers would be contacted, and the download would proceed. Now, yesterday and today I try it at several different times and the status line simply says, "....[Contacting HiFi DataNet]...." and that's it. No download, it just sits there. I even let it sit for several minutes to see what happened.I haven't changed a thing in my config.Has something changed with HiFi that I don't know about? Any insight is appreciated...Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
April 12, 200620 yr Hi,Nothing has changed at our end as far as I know and there have been no other reports of this. A few things:-- make sure that IE is set not to work in Offline Mode. This is under File.-- could be a firewall/anti-virus setting not allowing access.-- can you browse the HiFi web site?-- you can always try a uninstall-reinstall cycle. Please let us know.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
April 12, 200620 yr Author >>-- make sure that IE is set not to work in Offline Mode. This>is under File. That's a possibility. I have not changed any IE settings. Maybe it changed itself. I have seen stranger things happen with Win/IE.I also have not installed any browsers, etc.>-- could be a firewall/anti-virus setting not allowing>access.I don't run any fw or anti-virus on my FS machine. >-- can you browse the HiFi web site?Didn't think to try that. I assume it's www.hifi.com or something like that. I'll google it to find the url. I thought maybe there was a server maintenance going on, and I couldn't remember where to go to check on the status of the servers...>-- you can always try a uninstall-reinstall cycle.>I did that. First I tried the new beta to see if that helped matters. It didn't. Then I uninstalled everything, and put SU3 back on, which was my last known functioning install. Still no d/l's.Loading previously saved wx works fine...Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
April 12, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,Our site is www.hifisim.com ...Anything change at your ISP? You might want to double check if they have you going through a proxy server now, in which case you will need to enter the proxy server details into ASv6 options. If this doesn't help, I would recommend doing a traceroute (start, run, cmd [enter] then tracert www.hifisim.com [enter]). If there are any problems getting all the way through to our server, you should contact your ISP's support department with the traceroute details so they can investigate. There may be routing problems at their end? Please keep us updated on this. FWIW all servers are 100% and no other reports of problems.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
April 13, 200620 yr Author I am embarassed, but the problem was in IE, "Work Offline" was checked. I can't believe THAT'S what it was. Now, I am asking myself, how did IE get this way, because I don't remember doing that. But anyway, you guys hit it right on the head, thank you!And I'll sign this, embarassed in KCGI,Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

April 14, 200620 yr Author >hi, sometimes my ie does the same thing for no reason at all>>> jimI know. And we can thank Microsoft's "integrated architecture" for these types of problems. Seems like IE is half-integrated into the OS.I've had IE magically change settings before. That's why I use Firefox or Opera whenever possible. :) IE seems very easy for spyware/adware to change it's settings.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
