I don't know if you guys did something in the latest update or it's my imagination, but I'm getting fantastic multi layer broken and overcast tonight while flying in the northeast. I don't think I've seen such complete coverage before. Great job. I love this addon more and more every time I use it!

>Hi neil,>>It's depend on clouds texture also, FE has cumulusstratus>texture that's are transparent, you will never get solid>overcast cloud with these set if you use them or get them by>random.>>>>>Thanks>Chris Willis>http://www.hifisim.com>http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpgI'm not sure to have understood the answer! It's FE3 the better choice or not?

That's a very interesting thought and it sure got my attention because I care about a solid o/c layer more than anything else in FS9. So I went and asked Peter Wilding (Developer of FE) about it. (He's on my MSN list since I was a beta tester of his Ground Environment. And believe me, having him on the list comes in handy every now and then :) )He said there is no transparent cloud texture in his Flight Environment. With that being said, some are less dense than others to create a realistic variety of cloud combinations. For example there is a stratus texture that's "near transparent which can make some very sublte clouds and also looks good as cirrostratuss".If there is any particular cloud I don't like I can disable it in the randomizer, but personally I am not going to disable any of them becaue I want the variety. :)Jason

HI Jason,"For example there is a stratus texture that's "near transparent which can make some very sublte clouds and also looks good as cirrostratuss"."Yes this is what's I want to said about, there is alpha channel that's are more transparent and others "near transparent to others, and cumulus texture clouds that's are less thick and smaller to others, you may have more holes and less dense effect with these if not disabled. To have a constant result solid overcast the most as possible, you have to disable them in the FE ramdom list to always get the most as possible solid layers with less hole and less "transparency" clouds.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg

Thanks Chris. For my own knowledge, Do overcast layers only use Cumulus clouds in FS or other kinds as well? My understanding is cumulus only but I can easily be wrong.Jason

HI Jason,Fs real weather default use 1 layer of Cumulus for overcast, but there is hole even the largesthighest alpha channeltransparency, and with some others cumulus clouds type it's worst, they look like broken clouds. ASV use more overcast layers stratuscumulus if I remember to have more solid overcast. This is the area that's the texture are important to get the most thickeralpha channel to prevent more holetransparent solid layers looking. Please note that's the texture are not clouds, but control the puff, color and "thickness" of the clouds visual, the clouds shape renderingformation height have nothing to do with Texture.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg
