AS6 can't find GE Pro

Featured Replies

GE Pro and FS are installed on a WideFS server machine. I have AS6 installed on the WideFS client machine. I have "Enable WideFS Integration Mode" checked in the AS options however AS cannot find the GE Pro installation on the server machine in order for GE Pro to submit the textures. What do I have to do to get AS to be able to find GE Pro? GE Pro is installed in the default directory. Do I have to create a Network path?Sorry if I miss the instructions for this somewhere.KenEdit: Never mind, posted too quickly as I found the instructions.

Hi Ken,If you read this, please let us know if things work out. We tested as much as we could, but every possible combination of things is not possible to test.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,I have the same installation like Ken: FS and GEPro on the FS machine, AS6 on the WideFS client machine. Since I do not use Active Radar, I wanted to do things manually. At first I couldn't persuade GEPro to get weather from AS6. Even inserting HKLMSoftwareHiFiInstall_Path to the registry on the FS machine didn't help. After looking at the registry on the WideFS Client machine (HKLMSoftwareHiFi) I went and inserted the DWORD entry found there on the FS machine registry and GEPRO then recognized AS6. Value of this DWORD must be set to 1, just like on the WideFS Client side. 0 will do funny things... ;)But... GePRO then complained about not having two files correctly registered when trying to get weather from AS6. I found them, one in Windows/System32 and the other in the ActiveSky folder on the WideFS Client machine. The names I forgot, but if anyone is interested, I can post the exact procedure when I get home (with the names of the missing two files). I wonder, are those two files really necessary or I goofed somewhere along the way? :)Anyway, everything works perfectly now. Thanks to both, AS6 and GEPro teams for fantastic work! Regards,Jure

Hi Jure,Thanks for the words and this post. Yes, please post all that when you get a chance. Too many different combinations are possible.I would say that the 2 files are necessary and that they were not registered for some reason on your system. Thanks again,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,looks like I wrote too soon. I tried and removed (unregistered) those two files and GEPro on the FS machine gets weather from AS6 on the WideFS client machine just fine. Go figure... So, it looks like a new reg entry with the correct path to AS6 is all that's needed! Sorry for the confusion. :)Jure

Hi,Note that the "Local" DWORD value should NOT exist on the FS machine registry in your configuration, where ASv6 is NOT on the same machine as the path specified. This can cause lots of problems if this is specified, as it will try to launch ASv6 across the network (not desired for many reasons). As mentioned in the "ASv6 and GE Pro Integration" document, it is recommended that both ASv6 and GE Pro to be installed on the same machine in order to have them launch each other appropriately. When the two add-ons are not on the same machine, GE Pro still has access to ASv6 data (assuming Install_Path correctly points to the ASv6 folder) but cannot launch ASv6 and likewise ASv6 cannot launch GE Pro. When using this configuration, simply make sure your active weather is as desired via client/ASv6, then load up GE Pro... Best,
