October 26, 200619 yr Author Olaf - SupportDate: 10/26/2006Status: ReopenedCategory: Billing EnquiryDear Customer,we are afraid that our refunds policy is clear about purchases of our shareware and direct download products due to their Non-returnable form:All sales are final - No Refunds will be givenShareware and Download products are not returnable and non-refundable unless otherwise indicated. This policy is clearly pointed out to you before making any purchase to us and we must strictly adhere to it to protect our authors and businness.Regards. --------------------------------------------------------Date: 10/26/2006Status: ReopenedCategory: Billing EnquiryYou have billed me incorrectly and refuse to correct the error?Jason--------------------------------------------------------Olaf - SupportDate: 10/26/2006Status: ReopenedCategory: Billing EnquiryWe have charged exactly what has to be billed : EUR33.00. That you didn't inform yourself about the current exchange rate is neither or fault nor a reason to refund something you don't deserve. Please understand that there is nothing we can do for you and that we will not reply further more regarding the same incorrect inquiry.best regards --------------------------------------------------------Date: 10/26/2006Status: ReopenedCategory: Billing EnquiryI purchased a shareware aircraft from Flight1 last year. After installing it and trying it out I was not happy with the quality and so I asked for a refund. They happily refunded my order. It is not something I do often, but every now and then there is a reason. You are saying that you will not even credit a $4.26 billing error and a refund is not permitted? If I had purchased this product from Flight1 they would have correctly charged me $37.99.I know where I will do my business from now on and to anyone else that reads this thread.Good day.Jason Jason Springer (p3dv5.2, MSFS 2020)
October 26, 200619 yr Author Apparently I did not have the "Currencies" dropdown set properly in the SimMarket store to signal me that the checkout price did not match the advertised price.Net: HiFiSim, you should remove the $37.99 price advertisment from your website that is directly above the link to the store checkout since SimMarket is not honoring that price.Jason Jason Springer (p3dv5.2, MSFS 2020)
October 26, 200619 yr Hi Jason,First, please understand that anything I say has nothing to do with our policies. We are sorry for any problems you are having purchasing from SimMarket. The price difference is due to the fact that all SimMarket transactions are with the Euro as currency. The advertised price is accurate, but when the conversion is made from USD to EUR that is where the difference happens. The conversion rate changes on a regular basis and SimMarket is going to adjust accordingly. Now, if the conversion rate were to go in the other direction for USD would anyone post that they paid LESS than the advertised price? No, I don't think so. This is no different then if you go on vacation overseas. In some places the USD is worth more and in some places it is worth less. At this time it happens that the USD is worth less compared to the Euro so the final price is higher. As far as their refund policy, again we have nothing to do with that either.I can suggest that you write to Damian with your information and there MAY be something he can do. Again, we want you to be a satisfied customer of Active Sky so we'll try to do what we can. October 27, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi Jason,Jim explains quite a bit, but to add to this, our price is always based on $37.99 US but SimMarket is in EURO currency which fluctuates. The price is changed (the EURO price on simmarket) on a regular basis to equal $37.99 relative US dollars but this always fluctuates.I was under the impression that the complete paid price and policies were completely visible during the simmarket checkout process, but if you note otherwise please do let me know the specifics so I can investigate. You are also free to e-mail me and I'll attempt to resolve this for you to your satisfaction. damianc at hifisim.comBest, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
October 27, 200619 yr Jason,I live in Europe. I always check the prices between different suppliers. I also check if the prices are labeled in $ or Euros. Also check if sales taxes apply and shipping costs. If prices are labeled in $ and Euros, I check which one really applies (Euro for EU suppliers and $ for US suppliers) I do the convertion taking into account the daily exchange rate. Then I order. On the order confirmation you can see which currency is really applied. That you are upset, I understand. But you got a (relative) hard lesson. You will check from now on.I also got that surprise several years ago. I learned ! Roger See my specs in my profile
October 27, 200619 yr Author Thank you Roger,I understand, but I clicked the ">> Buy Now <<" button on HiFiSim's website right next to the $37.99 USD statement. It did not say "Buy Now 33 Euros" it said $37.99 USD. The linked store checkout page did say 33 Euros. I was just misled into believing that the resulting charged amount would be 37.99 USD.It is probably more correct to say that HiFiSim should remove the USD quoted price from their website than it is to blame SimMarket, but I really didn't like SimMarket's response either (to late, sorry, not our problem, read the policy, go away).HiFiSim has since offered to correct the discrepency since SimMarket would not.It is probably best to put this one to bed as it seems to only be causing arguments. It was only $4. I'm over it. I'll contact HiFiSim at the email address they gave me. It was just frustrating.Jason Jason Springer (p3dv5.2, MSFS 2020)
