February 16, 200719 yr Hi guys,I was out of town on a business trip this week and I'm now trying to find the weather archives of this week's snow-storm in the NorthEast U.S.. I'm looking for a range of dates and times for the best, heaviest, squaliest (is that a word?) snow for the PA, NY, MA area. I can't seem to find a good historical radar loop to pin-point the heavest snow rates. I've tried randomly selected archives in ASv6 around Feb 13 or 14, but it keeps indicating only light or moderate snow. When and where was the heavy stuff?Thanks...Yes, I was ever-so-slightly affected in Washington National last night but many many others were there for days. At least I eventually had a plane to ride on as many thousands of others did not in the NorthEast. I can only begin to imagine their frustration this week. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE

February 18, 200719 yr Author Thanks Jim. Indeed, 1600z, 14 Feb '07 seems to be the data-set I was looking to start with. Much appreciated. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
February 19, 200719 yr Hi Al and JimI had an awesome flight in the Lake Michigan Area in Real time using ASV6 on Feb 14. The winds were gusting up to 40kts so it was difficult to make headway in the Beaver. It was intersing that the storm seemed to be below 2000', as soon as you got above that height the "snow" seem to lessen, although there was still plent of cloud. Very realistic though, I'm sure that you will enjoy it Al.RegardsPeterH
February 19, 200719 yr Living in Connecticut, we got hit with major wind and heavy sleet from about 10 am to 2 apm EST on Wednesday, the 14th, if that helps you. All the skating rinks have closed; no need for them now! The 4" of sleet has compressed, melted, refroze, and most everyone has a 2-3" solid layer of very smooth, glassy ice on their lawns. Very ugly here still :-( Mike
February 22, 200719 yr Do you want the actual weather that was going on that day?It was Weds. Valentines Day, Feb 14, 2007 NJ/NYC area.If so, I was off from work and downloaded the weather (and saved it) from ASv6.5 on my PC.It was a mess! Visibility about 1 nm. Rain, sleet and snow.Horrible. Hope this works for you. E Mail me otherwise at:[email protected]
February 23, 200719 yr This coming weekend here in Minneapolis we're going to get several inches of snow preceded by freezing rain tonight.Sunday will be the heaviest with seven inches for that period only. Total storm predicted accumulation through Mon. a.m. is 17 inches. Here's the forecast link:http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findwe...cast?query=KMSPChicago will have precip but little accumulation. The area around here might be interesting to try a few flights in and out. While the daily accumulation is not the much the base of slop and the totals will be interesting.
February 24, 200719 yr Author Yup Ron, that was fun. Denver to Mineapolis this morning with live ASv6 feeding the data flying my United (NC) LVLD-767. After a nice VNAV descent on the FOD.TWOLF STAR, RCv4 put me in a hour-long weather-induced holding arrival delay at the 40nm-marker. The FSPassengers were guite PO'd at the late arrival and thanked me with a -200 point bonus, even after I gave them more liquer and another movie. Ungreatful SOB's, LOL... The snow was frightful but the CAT-III autoland did the job with eyes-on-rwy at 50ft above DH and a nice icy rollout on auto-brakes 2.Whew, we made it, time for a beer over at the mall... Now, who's drivin' us over there? LOL... Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
