VC & mixture problem

Featured Replies

Just made my first tentative steps with the DC-3 and have encountered a couple of problems. When I try to move the mixture controls to auto lean they go all the way back to idle cutoff, they act as if it is a toggle; auto rich or idle cutoff. In the VC I cannot pan left or right using my stick's hat switch, I can only pan up and down. When I try to pan left or right the view judders slightly as if it is trying to pan but is hitting some sort of stop.I can pan in VC mode in other add-on aircraft I have. The above is in FS9 and I do not have Active Camera.Advice welcomed.TIA

Can't help with the latter, but the former is probably the auto mixture option checked. Uncheck it and that should fix it. Failing that it might be a symptom of something that is mentioned in the manual with dials rotating in 10 degree increments rather than 1. It is stated in the manual that it can't be fixed, but the registered version of FSUIPC does fix it.Otherwise, check that you have the correct key assignment for the function - you want your key assignment to be `lean mixture incrementally` and `enrichen mixture incrementally` and not any of the other options. I think it's Ctrl+Shift+F2 or F3 from memory, but it's been a long time since I had default commands for those functions.Allcott

I've seen the former problem... intermittantly.

Just trying another flight, auto mixture is off in FS.On the ground I can move the mixture control levers, with the mouse, to any of the four settings. However when in cruise if I try to move from full rich to auto lean the levers jump to idle cutoff.I have 'fix control acceleration' ticked in my registered copy of FSUIPC.I still have the 'no pan' problem in the VC.

Hi Vulcan,What sort of control device are you using? I sometimes see interference between my CH Flight Sim Yoke, which has a mixture lever, and the mouse response when dragging. Seems like the yoke wants to override the drag function. You may be seeing a similar interference. See if you expereince the problem with your stick or yoke disabled. As for the panning in VC mode, make sure the repeat slider is turned all the way up in the View (pan) key assignment command in FS.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Hamblyhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Done a bit more testing and I think the two problems are linked. It seems that the mixture controls go into 'toggle' mode after I have been in VC view, I need to do more tests to confirm that this happens each time. When I try to pan in VC view the whole view shudders as if it has hit a stop, that is the outside scenery moves with the flightdeck as if the outside scenery is painted on the cockpit windscreen and is not a seperate entity. The movement is only 5 degrees or less.As I don't have these problems with any other add-on aircraft, including the B25, I will try a fresh install and see if that cures the problem.FYI Bill, I use a Saitek X36 combo, mixture controls are not mapped to any joystick axis in FS, the prop controls are mapped to the stick and they work fine.Pan view is controlled by HAT1 and the repeat slider in FS is fully to the right.Auto mixture is not enabled in FS.I will report back after a fresh install.PS using Win XP Pro.

Forget all my posts for now. I have just tried Briefing Time and the PMDG 737 and panning in VC no longer works in those aircraft.Goodness only knows what's happening.

Found the panning culprit, I had installed a copilot add-on and had probably not configured it correctly.I still have the mixtute control problem but have found a work-round, use my mouse wheel to move between the 4 settings.

I also had the mixture problem (when trying to go to "lean" the levers would go to the cutoff position). It seems to have been solved when I unchecked the "auto mixture" in FS. However the mixture always worked well in the B25. Why is it different with the R4D?Regards,

Does it simulate the automixture?

Sorry, but I do not understand your question. I can summarize my situation as follows:a) I noticed a strange operation of the mixture levers in the R4D: they would either be at maximum or idle/cutoff.:( Reading a thread in this forum, I considered that it could be due to the "automixture" being selected in fs9. As it was,I turned it off and the mixture levers of the R4D resumed normal operation. What I question is why I never had any problem with the B25, i.e. the mixture levers always responded as expected, independently of the "automixture" being selected in fs9.in the frame of the above explained, will you please explain the meaning of your question?Best Regards,
