September 13, 200520 yr I was the co-chair for the 2004 Doolittle Reunion in Tucson, AZ. Since then I have become close friends with the director and general manager of the raiders, Tom Casey. This April I flew down to Tampa,FLto stay with Tom and Col. Dick Cole, Doolittles own co-pilot! While planning my stay I thought I would take FS 2004 and the MAAM B25 alongto load in Tom's computer! Please see the one of a kind picture I have attached! The group picture show's seven of the surviving raiders.Col. Cole is the 4th from the right. The "one of a kind" picture is Col Cole flying the MAAM B25 on the desk top....enjoy!OK..I tried to upload jpeg pictures...no joy! Need help here to share these pic's with you! Can someone help?Ron BrownAmerica West AirlinesFlight Control/SOC
September 13, 200520 yr Cough, splutter, choke! Copyright! Copyright! Loading FS2004 and the B-25 into others' computers?! That's a no-no!In the circumstances, you might get away with it ..... ;)To load an image, go CLICK HERE TO CHOOSE YOUR ATTACHMENTS. Then click on JPEG IMAGE FILE (i.e. put a dot in it) and check CLICK HERE TO EMBED ETC. Then BROWSE to your picture. Then hit UPLOAD. You'll see the URL appear in your message before posting, and you can move the line of code to anywhere in your message if you don't want it right at the bottom.Hope this helps,MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
September 14, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Ron,Mark was correct in pointing out the error of your ways. He's also right saying that the special circumstances might wipe away the transgression. If you can get me a mailing address I would be honored to send Colonel Cole his own copy of BT, as well as the B-25 Multi-Media CD, with our compliments and great respect. The same goes for any of the other Raiders who might like them. This has become a bit of a tradition with MAAM-SIM. I presented sets of CD's to all ten Tuskegee Airmen of the 477th BG (B-25J) who were attending our WW2 Weekend Show a few years back, and another to a French B-25 pilot just last week. I have become especially close to one of these gentlemen, Bert Levy... http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/levy_br.jpgEither Bert is REALLY enjoying flying BT at the show, or I have just said something extremely witty. The smart money is on the former. When you get that picture of Col. Cole sorted out I'd love to use it in a Press Release.Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/maamsim_neon.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
September 14, 200520 yr Hi All, Just wanted to say what a wonderful story, picture and the sentiment of presenting the CDs also! What a great site/hobby/people. I never cease to be impressed by it all - thanks for sharing with the rest of us.Regards, Blue.
September 15, 200520 yr Commercial Member Thanks, Blue, but it's pretty small potatoes when you consider what we owe these men and the millions of their comrades. I'm proud to say my own Dad was one of them, as were three uncles and an aunt.If you ever get a chance to visit the new World War II Memorial on the Mall in Washington, by all means do. It is a very inspiring place. Here are Ron Brown's photos...http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/cole.jpgLTC Richard Cole flying BT from the right seat, as he did for Col. Doolittle.http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/raiders.jpgTung-Sheng Liu, Jack Sims, Davy Jones, Chase Neilsen Robert Hite, Dave Thatcher, Dick Cole, John Doolittle, CV Glines and Tom GriffinRon writes: Dick Cole flew "BT" just as smooth as he did sitting next to Doolittle off the deck of CV8 Hornet. The group picture will have seven raiders in it including Dick Cole. C.V. Glines, the author of most of the definitive books on the raid, is in the pic, along with John Doolittle and Tung Sung Loo, the man how helped Travis Hoover escape China. The group pic. is in front of "Martha Jean" ...the B25 I had fly the raiders silver goblets in to Tucson along with three other B25's and a B17.Thanks, Ron. The CD's will be winging their way to LTC Cole today.Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/maamsim_neon.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
September 15, 200520 yr Bill, How right you are - we do owe them, that's a fact. My own father flew Wellingtons and Lancasters throughout the war (and flew on for 25 yrs thereafter. )Wonderful men, what a credit to their generation - and then some!!Regards Blue
September 19, 200520 yr Wow...what a great thread! It does make me think...you've done such a good job re-creating the plane in FS, and chronicling the plane's history on the Multi-Media CD... Maybe what's still missing from the package is the stories of these men.CheersBob Scott==============================Robert J.
