May 17, 200818 yr Commercial Member WWII Weekend, June 6-7-8, will be the release date for the Avenger package, come #### or high water (both of which we have had at recent shows!)We introduced the TBM demonstration model at last year's show. But there was obviously a looooong way to go - even longer than even we thought. In the meantime as you have seen, we have added two more models to the package. In addition to the museum's TBM-3, we now have the TBF-1 and TBF-1C, all with torpedoes you can drop, guns you can fire, and scads of other special effects. Edit: Jan has pointed out that my Turkey count is off by two. We will also have the British Tarpon I and Tarpon II which have different observation windows than their American counterparts and RAF pilots appropriately garbed for their North Sea flight duty. This project has really grown hair, and I won't go into all the trials and tribulations, but finally it is coming to an end and we are going to let the Turkeys out of the coop and launch the U.S.S. Langley, CVL-27 so they have a place to roost. Now here are the caveats... (I can hear the moans.)Because of all the work involved in the big show for everyone involved, I won't absolutely promise anything but the CD's to be sold at the show on June 6-7-8. However, I will try my hardest, like the valiant TBF's at the Battle of Midway, to get the download version up on the MAAM Store, ASAP. That may mean immediately upon my return from Reading on May 9, or it may - just may - mean a little before, if we have everything ready to go. The museum is very much in need of the sales revenue and every sales day helps, so I promise not to hold off a finished product, just to meet an announced release date that has been too long delayed already. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm sure that there will be a delay in initial shipping of CD's from the MAAM office because of the tremendous post-show workload. Shipments are only made on Thursdays, anyway, and I'd count on the one immediately following WWIIWE being a no-go. So I think it's safe to predict an initial shipping date of June 19. Like the rest of us, Brenda, our office manager, and her volunteers will do better, if possible, but unless you have a creeping, crawling dial-up connection, I would strongly recommend the download version. Besides, you'll get it faster and cheaper!...The price of the MAAM-SIM TBF-TBM Avenger package will be $35, plus $4.95 for worldwide shipping if you choose the CD version. The CD will contain three aircraft models in a number of different liveries, some still in the works, but all stunning; the light aircraft carrier, home of MAAM's bird, the U.S.S. Langley, CVL-27; a PDF version of the Pilot's Handbook of Flight Operating Instructions - Navy Model TBM-3 Avenger III Airplanes; the html MAAM-SIM Software User's Manual, a fully layered repaint kit, and Splash Screens. The download version will consist of the aircraft and carrier installer and a readme only, but you will be able to download the manuals and other goodies from our FREE STUFF page.OK, I think that's all I have to say at the moment, and hope this ends all the speculation. If and when the download is available, pre-show, I'll announce that here and elsewhere. Thanks very much for your patience and support, and all the great comments about the product. We are proud of this bird, and if you decide to spring for it, I don't think you will be disappointed, and your money will go to a very good cause. Let's get that P-61 Black Widow flying, 'cause we're itching to do the virtual version!Hope to see you at the show.Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
May 21, 200818 yr Thats very good news Bill :D I've been waiting to fly her for a looong time. However, I am wondering if both the FS9 and FSX versions will be available upon release. It was previously mentioned that a FSX version would be released later, but it is clear from some of the screenshots that it is up and running in FSX.Thanks for your hard work :-halo Tired of Streetlights everywhere?
