November 26, 200421 yr I've had a medium powerful DELL P4 for 2+ years and it's been generally flawless with FS2002 and FS9. But in recent weeks--in fact, if I think about it, ever since I installed PMDG's NG about 3 to 4 months ago, I think--I've had several weird FS9 crashes and failures to re-set situations with the NG specifically, and had a reported shortage of memory for FS9 by Windows XP. I have RDRAM of 1024 MB and a 2.53Ghz processor, so this has all been very strange to me.Today, while flying a POSKY B747-200 with Ken Mitchell's SP cockpit panel in FS9 at FL310, I suddenly got a "You have run out of memory" message. And the sim then closed down and Windows then closed down shortly after that. Wild ?!My page file is 2200MB (I increased it from the default 1534 MB two weeks ago) and actually the PMDG NG has been running exceptionally well with the FMC and other NG panel windows open, on dual monitors, with NO memory issues since doing that. But today's incident is disturbing. I never had that on this particular PC ever before. Can anybody advise me what's happening or what I should be looking for? I'm clueless. November 26, 200421 yr set the page file to 'system managed'i had similar issues until I did this. This is actually mentioned on the PMDG website.Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
November 26, 200421 yr I was starting to get these as well when using the PMDG 737. I was having page files around 1.10GB. I thought surely I hosed my system up some how. I noticed that the "you have run out of memory errors " started after the 9.1 update. So last night as an experiment, I uninstalled all my PMDG stuff. I loaded up the PSS A330 and went to the Denver scenery that was done by Imaginesim. With the PMDG 737 loaded in there, my page file would go straight to 1GB. With the PSS in the same situation...650-700MB page file. So my conclusion....something is amiss with FS9.1 and PMDG's plane. That plane should not increase my page file useage by 250-300MB! I love the PMDG plane and am at a loss as to what to do. I have a feeling it has to do with their PMDG options dll but who knows..I am not a programmer and would not have a clue as to what specifically it could be with that package.Suggest you post over in the PMDG forum for help as well. Eric
November 26, 200421 yr Sounds like the bog standard scenery memory leak.Have you installed any scenery lately? specifically landclass, or a scenery that has some landclass with it?Dan.
November 26, 200421 yr "Sounds like the bog standard scenery memory leak."That's what I thought originally, too, but Eric has been very thorough in testing this. It'll be interesting to see where all this leads.Greg
November 26, 200421 yr Author A memory leak is possible, I s'poze: I left the PC on overnight without touching it (at the Windows desktop, not with FS running) and by morning, the available RAM had fallen from 840MB to about 600MB. Does this suggest a memory leak or is that normal?I have not installed any new scenery and have only the Genesis landclass USA (installed 1+ year ago) and three sceneries from Fly Tampa! I have this gut feeling that it the crashing is connected to PMDG's NG but I don't know if there's any better ideas on that forum than here.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 26, 200421 yr I have started to have trouble on the NG also. I use the NG on my laptop as well as my Desktop. On my desktop with the 9.1 update and 1.5 gb of memory I dont really suffer to much. The laptop is a different story. By the end of a flight it is pretty much not flyable. I do not suffer any problems with the F1 ATR and a bunch of other add-ons. By the way no update on the laptop other XP SP2.I hope a fix can be found I hate to not be able to fly the NG it such a great Airplane. Andrew
