March 24, 200521 yr I looked at Alienware a few times and resolved that I could get much more value for my money buying parts. Just did an upgrade:amd 64 bit 3500+ATI x800 256 mb1 Gig ddr2Asus a8n-sli mobo120 G WD SATA drive (8Mb cache)for about $1400.00 Canadian D.Go see what Alienware would charge for a similar sys.Good luck in your computer hunting. March 24, 200521 yr Very good but expensive. Building my own was not something I wanted to do but I found a vendor that could deliver Alienware's performance for less $$. Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
March 24, 200521 yr Great laptop (really a desk top replacement- Too heavy if you choose the Gaming Laptop. However technical service and customer service is VERY BAD. Both of these are located in San Jose Costa Rica and it seems that they do not get their act together between Costa Rica and Miami where they assembly the PC 's and laptops.I am not an expert but I feel sometimes that I know more than the tech people. They never solve my problems and I end up having to pay for the service of a local technician.I bought my last Laptop in November 2004, got in January and it has gone back to them twice already. In fact I have never been able to use it yet.The say that they test them thorougly( last time it took them 5 weeks to return it and 3 days later it had to go back again. They just teted that windows was ok but did not test it with any peripherals, in fact it could not recognize the secon internal HD. Supervisor do not seem to be on top of their jobs.People are very nice and cordials , but do not solve anything.Stay away from them.I think on hindsight that one could get a cheaper laptop just as good. March 28, 200521 yr Adam, Where did you get those components. If you were building a top of the line for Flight sim today.. what would be your config.. I mean with part numbers at a vendor like Newegg/tiger that would all work together nicely and with provision for growth. (with some options like processor options within a family).thanks.These are the two I was looking at http://www.alienware.com/Configurator_Page...=PC-AREA51-5550andhttp://www.alienware.com/Configurator_Page...ode=SKU-DEFAULT:) Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
