April 25, 200521 yr I have a virus norton cant even pick up on. It comes up, with a countdown from 30secs, saying it will restart FS, then below that, a message is written from the author in spanish. Had a contact translate it, and i will say, he seriously should be skinned for this.Brand new pc i built in dec and somehow i was infected with this virus.Any idea's on a solution? http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/114175.jpg Chase Barnett
April 26, 200521 yr "Any idea's on a solution? "Google HijackThis and follow it's readme. If you're not sure about removing anything with HJT (and it is, uh, permanent) then post a log here.Cheers,Greg
April 26, 200521 yr Author ill check it out. thanks greg.BTW, have you upgraded your rig? Specs look a bit bigger.. :) Chase Barnett
April 26, 200521 yr Is this XP? Are you running any service pack? This is caused by the RPC service being killed - usually by a remote program using an exploit. You should patch your OS immediately.
April 26, 200521 yr Author XP w/SP2. I have patched it, norton, and everything i can think off. Dont know why norton isnt detecting anything. Chase Barnett

April 27, 200521 yr I just uninstalled Norton last week. My download speeds went from 40-50 kb/s to over 400 kb/s. Besides being a resource hog and severely limiting my download speeds, when I booted up with CHSSS (CharterHighSpeedSecuritySuite)which is free btw with highspeed broadband, it immediately discovered a virus that Norton had ignored for years. It was a Trojan-Dropper. Low risk and not harmful by itseft, but it lets other virus' in via a backdoor. Wondered why I got virus hits way to often. Anyway, once detected and found to be residing in my windows restore folder, I just turned off windows restore, which deleted all those files. Turned it back on and that trojan-dropper was long gone. I don't much care for Norton anymore.
April 27, 200521 yr "I don't much care for Norton anymore."Yep, it's a product that saw it's day some years ago.Greg
April 27, 200521 yr Author well, ive used several scanners. Not one detected and removed what i have. Chase Barnett
April 27, 200521 yr that looks like the MS Blaster virus to me, i had it a few years ago, you get it by conecting an unprotected PC to the internet. it is relativly easy to get rid of. i causes the PC to eboot and slows it down terribly. go to microsoft.com and put MS Blaster in the search box, follow the instructions on the pages it finds. then update to SP2, and keep your OS up to date.
April 27, 200521 yr Author i also had blaster a few years back, But this isnt it. Acts like it, but isnt.. confusing.. Norton doesnt detect it. I have ran the blasterworm remover tool.. I have ran several scanners.. Still, no one can detect it. I think this could be something that is new.. Chase Barnett
April 27, 200521 yr if its not the blaster worm it could be the saser worm, that seemed to have similar effects and also infected my PC after a rebuild before i got the firewall up (thats the trouble with cable it is allways conected to the net).
April 27, 200521 yr Author well, what ever it is.. it cant be detected by norton, or avant, nor can it be removed. And who ever made it, speaks spanish. Had the message translated, i seriously think the author is a angry person for even creating this. Must be mad at the world...It also prevents me from reformating my hdd. Im going to have to take it in to the shop and have some 60 something dollars spent per hour for labor.. Chase Barnett
