May 17, 200521 yr Hi all,I recently upgraded from, 512 MB RAM to 1 GB RAM. However I am not able to see any further smoothness in the sim.... nor is there any difference in NFS Underground 2.My system is P4 2.8 GHz 1 GB ram (partitioned as 4x256), Intel 915 G Chipset. I'm not using any GeForce or ATI Radeon cards.Am I missing something? Please help. Is any tweak awailable?PS: How do I turn frame rates ON and OFF?Thanks,Jinesh
May 17, 200521 yr It doesn't improve the framerate as such. However loading times are shorter, switching views or bringing up popup windows is much faster and the pauses that sometimes occoured when detailed scenery like a big airport comes into view are gone. Those are some of the improvements I noticed when going from 512MB to 1GB. -
May 17, 200521 yr If you are using onboard Intel junk 256 mb is fine you will still be limited by your intel onboard video :)

May 17, 200521 yr Thanks for your comments...... yes bringing up new windows is smoother now......loading times are shorter, switching views or bringing up popup windows is much faster and the pauses that sometimes occoured when detailed scenery like a big airport comes into view are gone.....Beautifully summarised.... thanks everybody once again...ThanksJinesh
May 18, 200521 yr My frame rates are 8 - 12.6 fps with all sliders to the max at Chicago O Hare.If I wanted frame rates of 25, what should I do? A new video card? Thanks.Jinesh
May 18, 200521 yr >My frame rates are 8 - 12.6 fps with all sliders to the max>at Chicago O Hare.>>If I wanted frame rates of 25, what should I do? A new video>card?>>Thanks.>>JineshOne thing you are almost certainly going to have to do is get some of those sliders lower than max. It is a juggling act to see what you like, and yet not bog down your frame rates. You put them all at max, and you will drag any PC down.
May 18, 200521 yr You definitely need to get a new video card - I'm not saying you will get 25 FPS, but it will be improved definitely.
May 18, 200521 yr Thanks everybody...Shall try my hands on a new video card... and of course as Bob has mentioned, I have pulled some of the sliders back and I do get much better frame rates with loss of much detail. Thanks guys.Jinesh
May 18, 200521 yr Sorry missed this bit:" I'm not using any GeForce or ATI Radeon cards."That either menas you're using built-in or some other junk. Noone other than Nvidia and ATI have produced anything half-decent in ages. You can expect at least double the performance even with a mid-range card like the Geforce 6600. -
May 18, 200521 yr I would recommend the Sapphire 9600xt, as it does pretty well against the geforce crowd in the same price range.Newegg has a good price on them. I picked up a 9600Xt Radeon 256mb for $112.Here is a link:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102344Reviews are excellent, and is selling now for $109.00Regards,JoeGrab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a] CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
