PCI Latency

Featured Replies

I tried to change the PCI latency of my ATI 9800 pro from 255 to 64 using PCI Latency tool 2.3 and the setting will not stick after a restart. I have saved, applied, and checked apply on startup, but it will not permanetly stay. I also tried to set it using ATI tool 0.24, but it will also not stay after a startup. Anyone have any other ideas on how to change this, or what could be causing it to not stay set? I read the post in Tips and Tricks, but that did not help my situation.ThanksBill

I changed mine in the BIOS. I would try there.

I tried the Bios route first, but couldn't find anywhere to change it. Ideally that is where I would like to change it at too. I have a DFI LANParty 250 GB NF3. Where did you find it in your Bios?

I found mine under Advanced --> PCI/PnP Configuration --> PCI Latency Timer and set it to 64.

Thanks for your reply. I checked in the PCI/PnP Configuration in my Bios, and I don't have a PCI Latency Timer heading. I looked absolutely everywhere in the Bios, checked the online manual, and can't find it. It is odd, because the DFI LanParty NF3 board has one of the most configureable Bios's around. Maybe it is only adjustable in the VIA chip mb's.

I had the same problem with it not staying at 64 after restart. I found out that you need to change the registry string to make it work. Search your registry for "DisableProgPCILatency" and change the value from 0 to 1 that will stop the ATI drivers from setting your vid card latency to 248 or 255Ben-5150flytampa_tampa1_468x60.gif

"Search your registry for "DisableProgPCILatency" and change the value from 0 to 1 that will stop the ATI drivers from setting your vid card latency to 248 or 255"...if that doesn't work, try PowerStrip - works like a charm and provides much else besides :)http://www.entechtaiwan.comCheers,Mike

Thanks Ben, changing it in the registry worked like a charm!

Should all instances of 'DisableProgPCILatency' be changed? The reason I ask is that I too was having the abovementioned problem with my Radeon X800 Pro and changing the 0 to 1 worked fine, however I have now added a second graphic card, a PCI Radeon 7000 whose latency too reverts back to 255 every restart. I did a futher search of the registry for the same string and found about 20 instances in various folders all, with the exception of the first one, with a value of 0, should all these be changed? Thanks fo any help.Pete
