Nvidia appears to be ignoring 7800GT/GTX simmers...

Featured Replies

No luck,I pulled Ati card out, removed all drivers and used Drivecleaner, put 7800GTX back in and I did have the 81.95's installed before and I had same problem. I attached my DXdiag file. As I stated in another post, BFG has already stated this is a known driver issue and it has been reported to Nvidia. I don't know why some have problem and some don't.Thanks,Ted

(googled it)Humph!Sorry fella's.That blows.Diag looks great Ted...nice rig.

Just curious are any of you having this problem over clocking the CPU, GPU, GPU Memory or changing Main Memory timing?I had problems with FS9.1 stability when I attempted to overclock and/or change memory timing -- it would crash after about 30 minutes to 1 hr into flight (all other games worked fine). I solved the problem by running everything at manufacturers spec and never encountered the problem again. It appears that FS9.1 is very sensitive to overclocking. Anyway, a good rule of thumb is to always eliminate as many variables as possible when trying to identify a problem.Just curious where did you get the 77.77 drivers from?? The 7800GTX 512MB was (and always has been) supported in 80+ releases only. If everything in FS9.1 is working with 77.77 drivers then I can only assume certain features are NOT enabled in those drivers that were enabled in 80+ series specific to the 512MB variant.I'll experiment tonight and see if I can't duplicate your problems. You might also look at these drivershttp://www.driverheavendownloads.net/zeropoint.htmscroll down to get the ones based on Forceware 81.84.

Hi Guys,Back again, removed 7800GTX and replaced with an ATI X1800XT. Had to use the CCC version of the 5.11 drivers and I don't care for CCC. I was and have been wanting to compare the 2 cards just in FS9. I maxed the overdrive which is 690 core and 800 memory with no hint of problems. Big difference from my X800XT-PE. Card runs alittle cooler than the 7800GTX-512 and makes alittle more noise. It has 3 levels of fan speeds. I've never got it past the 2nd level though. As soon as I can get the Nvidia card to cooperate with FS9 I will post what differences I can see. I'm not partial to ATI nor Nvidia, I just like to Sim and enjoy the views. BTW I've attached the dxdiag just for the heck of it.Maybe someone from Nvidia will see my post and see the score as being 1 for Ati and 0 for Nvidia, at least in my situation. The 7800GTX does score higher in benchmarks and is slightly faster in fps in 3DMark05 although that doesn't mean anything really to me. Well I going to call it a night, but I will be back in the morning surfing(I mean working);)

I'm very disapointed that not even a beta driver with a fix has happened in the last few weeks...To whoever was asking about motherboard drivers, of course - I'm a hardcore gamer in other genres besides FS and built this computer from scratch - everything is as up to date as it can be.

I did some FS9.1 Testing last night using SLI and none SLI -- it appears the new 81.95 drivers just disable SLI went FS9.1 exe is detected. If I do NOT use the MS FS 2004 performance profile that is provided by the nVidia drivers then I do notice all sorts of strange problems but NONE are like those described (corrupt textures).MipMapping level above 4 causes strange scenery texture motion (more noticeable at dusk/night).Global Textures at Maximum has no affect other than reduces frame rate considerably (went from average of 50 fps to 30 fps).Setting AA beyond 4X via nVidia control panel causes very bizzare images (everything goes blurry) in FS9.1.Summary:1. Use the nvidia MS FS2004 performance profile2. Don't set MipMapping level higher than 4This is just my experience using two 7800GTX 512MB in SLI mode. But clearly FS9.1 and nVidia have got some issues to resolve but the more I research this the more it seems the answer is "wait til FS 2006" is out sometime next year.

This is a long shot, but do you guys have MS NET Framework installed?I seem to recall a reference to it during driver install.I may be mistaken (it's a bit fuzy) might have been a board driver.I'm pretty sure I completely updated the OS (crirical and softs, no MSdrivers), before I installed any drivers (other than network). After manufacturer drivers were installed, un-needed services were disabled.Listed in Services as ASP NET StateAlso Ted, your diag states 1024x768@75 desktop res. This is the res you have the sim set to correct? (ie;both desktop and fs2004 resolutions are the same)One other thing that wouldn't hurt, is to find out which USB port is IRQ sharing with video, and free it up (better yet, disable it).You guys with this problem are better read on the subject than I.Tell me is it just BFG, and FXF cards (not everyone lists their brand) ? Do they all have this problem, or only some of them?

Yes I do have res on FS9 and desktop the same. I think the shared IRQ on the USB and Video is on the ATI 1800XT which runs fine. On the 7800 I did have a shared IRQ of 18 between the video and modem, no way around if you use all PCI slots in my MB. Anyway I did remove all pci cards and just left video card in and still had problems. I do have all updates on a fresh install of Win. XP Pro. AS for what makes of cards are having problems - BFG reported the majority of problems are with the 512mb version. They even go as far as to recommend that users of the 256mb version stay with the 77 series drivers as being the most stable. I had 2 techs tell me the same thing. In one of my other posts I did indicate that Nvidia may or may not fix the problem for FS9. This is considered an outdated game at this time. Also there are many other issues with the 80's series drivers that have to be worked out. The info I am passing on is just what I was given after holding for BFG tech support for an hour. It is a toll free number but still gets old when you call 3 times and get no real solution. Oh well at least my ATI is running great.

Man, the more I look into this, the more it makes me want to puke.I went with the 7800GTX for my dad's machine based on all of the hardware comparisons I could find. And it really looked good.Have you seen this?http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=25807It links to thishttp://www.3dcenter.org/artikel/g70_flimmern/index2_e.phpSomewhere, I came across a reference to a 78.03 beta driver that suposedly fixed it. I dont have the box here anymore, so my hands are tied. When I can scrape up the dough, I'll get him a X1800XT which wasn't yet available when I ordered the parts.I'm out.Good luck

>>I know it's of no real use for me to say that I have>>absolutely no problem using the new drivers with a 7800GT.>I'm>>using 81.85, maybe it's because I put these on a clean>system,>>meaning that it was a new PC and it's the first drivers I>have>>installed on it.>>Could the problem be confined to the 7800GTX then?I have two 7800GT cards in SLI mode and I get slightly different texture problems. I use TrackIR and vector expansion, and if I look down towards the floor I see rainbow colours. They disappear when looking straight ahead. Also, after a short while flying, I start to see triangular flashes appearing on screan in random places. This continues until FS9 crashes. This is not a heat problem as my other games run fine for hours - I haven't overclocked anything anyway! The card came with the .77 drivers and I saw this problem appear after changing to the .85 drivers. I used driver cleaner and followed the correct method to update the drivers.I come on here to see if there are any posts and this was at the top of the list!Ray Keattch.

Ray, take the cards out of SLI mode. FS can't use it anyway and its' just another problematic area.It IS a heat problem - and it has nothing to do with any other games. FS pushes GPU and CPU to max and beyond. The heat build-up in FS is about 25% greater than Doom 3, a current benchmark in compexity. I can almost guarantee you DO have an overheating problem and if you don't deal with it you WILL fry the card(s).Allcott

>It IS a heat problem - and it has nothing to do with any other>games. FS pushes GPU and CPU to max and beyond. The heat>build-up in FS is about 25% greater than Doom 3, a current>benchmark in compexity. It absolutely is NOT. Without changing a single setting related to the card's clock speed, I can easily produce the problem by simply using any 80 series driver. Switching back to a 70 series one immediately clears the issue. I have tried lowering the card's clock speed with the 80 series as well - absolutely no effect. It is a driver issue, this was confirmed to me by the guy at DriverHeaven, who talked directly to Nvidia about it. Go look at the www.nzone.com Simulations forum, there's a whole load of people with both GTXs and GTs seeing the exact same thing. There is no way FS9 pushes a video card more than a current game like F.E.A.R. or the Source engine w/ HDR lighting. The CPU I'll buy, but those new games are doing so much more related to the GPU than FS does.
