Just as an update. I completely removed my Audigy 2 (again) along with all the drivers. I even manually cleaned up all references to it in the registry. I then found an old SoundBlaster live card and installed it and the drivers. I haven't had a single lock up in over a week. According to my wife, I'm half deaf, so I don't notice any difference in sound quality either. frame rates didn't change enough to notice either.Brad2 miles from KELP/KBIFhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

I too have recently begun experiencing this. I have an Audigy 2 sound card which I have had for over 12 months & had no problems with. The thing I have recently updated however is my video card - a Nvidia 6600GT & I beleive that this is the cause of my problem & not the sound card. Am slowly working my way through various drivers to try & solve it.Ross

Ross,You are dealing with just what I did. My Audigy 2 card worked great for months. Then I updated my video to an Nvidia 6800 and started having lock up constantly. I obviously was centering my troubleshooting on the new video card and its drivers, but in the end the ONLY thing that worked was replacing the Audigy 2 with an old SoundBlaster Live. Trust me, in three weeks time I tried every possible combination of hardware and software install and uninstall, including the dreaded

Hmm.. pain in the A isn't it! Looks like I might have to put up with it for a while yet though as I'm not keen to change either pieces of hardware at the moment. Have given my previous sound card to my son - it was a Creative Live anyway which still might have a clash. One thing I didn't mention that sometimes I get a reboot out of the blue which actually turns off my monitor. The only way I can get it to fire up again is by disconnecting it from the computer then re starting. None of this happened till I swapped over to the 6600GT.I must say I like the performance & appearance the new card has given me just got to sort out the lock ups:-)Ross
