December 27, 200520 yr Yup. I ordered a plain vanilla Fresenel Lens for around $35. Its about 20" diagnoal.it seemed too big for my 19"CRT minitor. but it seemed good for my 24" widescreen monitor. Its a no frill kind. Meaning, it has no frame or box or stand. I held it with my stretched out left hand in front of the monitor. It is an interesting concept worth pursuing more. Are there anyone here using Fresnel lens in their setup? I would like to hear from them. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

December 31, 200520 yr I got mine from Edmund Optics in New Jersey, USA.I built my housing with a heavy-duty cardboard. Nothing special - just a good glue and cardboard. I may take a pictue if you are interested.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.

Its big.. I mean real big.http://www.edmundoptics.com/onlinecatalog/...D=2040&search=131" X 41" for $300. I have a 24" Dell widescreen monitor and I currently have 2 X 19"CRT for the left front and right front using wideview. I may replace that with two 21" LCDs to go with the 24" Dell. It gives me almost a 180degree front view.I don't know, If I would be able to cut the lens (if its plastic) to the size I want (keeping the center at center). I don't know much about the focul length of these lens and how that matters to what I am doing. That size of 31" X 41" looks like a front windsheeld for my cockpit. :)Got any suggestions for what I am trying to do?:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 31, 200520 yr >>31" X 41" for $300. This may not be the lens you want. You should be looking for a lens that has fewer number of grooves per inch. Mine has 50 and is listed on this page for $139 and with 18.25" diameter it perfectly fits my CRT. You may double check but I recall reading that higher number of grooves are good primarily for focusing light (projectors) whereas for image making you need fewer grooves. The problem you have is a rather very large monitor, mine is only 19". The price of good Fresnel lens rises very quickly with the size. It may very well be that you won't find reasonably prized Fresnel lens suitable for your monitor.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
