January 21, 200620 yr Hi all,I just put together a new pc. AMD64 X2 4400+ w/Nvidia 6800GS 256, card, and 1gig of ram. FS looks awesome now, and I can run with 25-30fps consistantly. The only thing that isn't working right, is now there is no plane in the preview window when I create a flight or am changing planes.Does anyone know why? I have the latest Nvidia 81.98 drivers which is supposed to fix some FS9 issues. Thanks in advance,
January 21, 200620 yr Might have something to do with (if) you have the AA/AF settings of your Nvidia card above 4. With that much horsepower, one could afford to run in higher resolutions and turn those video card settings down a notch or two... Rick
January 22, 200620 yr Author Thanks Rick,That was it. I had AA set to 8x. Put it back to 4x and all is well with the preview window.I find it hard to believe I have to much horsepower for FS. Nah ;-)You also don't realize how much stuff you've accumulated until you have to reinstall everything!! :-eek Thanks again,
January 22, 200620 yr Oddly enough I installed those new drivers as well, and my aircraft preview went totally blank as well. The odd part is I was running 4X AA/AF already. I seem to recall the drivers not playing well with some other game, so I rolled back to whatever it is was on there before.
January 22, 200620 yr I really wish Nvidia would fix this issue. I have a 6800GT AGP, and can't run any new drivers past 71.89 or I get a black screen. Why should we have to turn things down to get it to work. I am looking to get the new AMD dual core 4200 with a nvidia6100. We should be able to run things turned up, not down. I've had it with them. Why don't they do something about this???? It really gets me angry. This black screen issue has been around for along time, any they don't do a darn thing about it. I just don't get it. Sorry, but this hit a nerve. I'm done venting now. This is directed at Nvidia, and not you guys of course. Thanks for listening. Best regards, Jeff
January 22, 200620 yr I imagine all of us nVidia guys have had these problems. I sure have. It's good to vent sometimes Jeff. If you go ATI please keep us posted on your experience, because it's crossed my mind several times to do so as well. Good luck to ya!http://home.earthlink.net/~dawgfighter/sit...es/swvasig1.gif-Jeremy BurchSWVA4806 http://www.virtualswa.com/home.phpThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!
January 22, 200620 yr Interesting, I have a new X2 4800+ rig and with my ATI 850XT, I have AA and AF set to optimal (8X and 16X) and no issues, must be an nVidia deal.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
January 22, 200620 yr Author Is there another 6x series set of drivers that does work with the preview window and still be able to set AA to 8? The 81.98 set seems to work fine in the sim, it's just the black preview window that's not working properly.
January 22, 200620 yr I've only found this to be a problem when in full screen. if you play in window'ed mode all works fine at 8x FSAA.(I'm using a 7800GTX btw.)http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
January 24, 200620 yr Yeah, it's taken me about a week to install FS on a new system. And I'm still going. But it's at least usable now.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
