Got An AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual? (Big Stability Improvement)

Featured Replies

Hi,I had noticed that flying demanding add-ons caused a MAJOR slow down of FS9, stutters the works! I would experience blisteringly fast FPS and then extremely slow FPS making the game unplayable! I have tried for many hours to solve this problem. I now think it is solved. FS9 was running under two cores. By going into task manager and selecting "Affinity" under the FS9.exe select only one core. This appears to have solved my problem. Also if you go to;http://www.robpol86.com/Pages/imagecfg.phpYou can apply this change permanently. Does anyone have anymore information on FS9 and dual cores/stability?Cheers,Paul

I find it works the same way on my Intel P4. FS9 runs much better with HyperThreading disabled (same effect as single-core on a dual-core machine).Doug

Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Klaatu barada nickto.

You beat me too it. I actually came here to post the same thing. I was having all sorts of issues. I had a intel cpu with Hyperthreading prior to my AMD dual core and I never had to set the affinity. In fact, I got better performance if I didn't. Hyperthreading is not the same as dual core. However with my new AMD 4200+ x2 I would get all kinds of weird things happening. I tried everything I could think of to fix the problem but nothing worked until I set the affinity of FS9 to one cpu and AS6 and TrackIR to the other cpu. Now Flight Sim is running super smooth and I get my locked 28FPS with most of my settings maxed.

It runs GTL, F.E.A.R and GTR tremendously well. No heavy tweaking yet just run my Opteron 170 at 2.4 gig it runs everything flawless :). Installed the hotfix just for the case it would fix BF 2 though haven

Hi Just got a HP computer with Athlon dual core 4200 processors and I added an Evga GeForce 6800gs card.Works great with FS9. With all display sliders on max and most other setting on high or max, I'm getting very good fps - nothing weird as yet. Thanks for the info, I'll keep it in mind in case of problems in the future.
