May 20, 200620 yr Good morning everyone, First off, i want to appologize to the moderator at the tips and tricks forum. I posted this over there and did not read the rules. OK, my new system is not performing like I want. I notice that in the virtual memory settings area, my system is set to let the memory use system cache. The default is programs. I think my tech must have changed it when the system was built. I read in the tips and tricks, that when this setting was changed, the system would not reboot at all. That person was trying to change it from the default (programs) to system cache. Mine is the other way around. Can I change this back to the default without any harm? The last thing I want to do is make my system unbootable. Thanks in advance.
May 20, 200620 yr By default XP set's it to programs. As with any tweaking, if your not sure then let it be.For the record,In the past I have tried both and noticed nothing. I have also heard that the non boot problem is only isolated to some ATI video cards and only when set to "system cache" like yours is. Al Stiff
May 20, 200620 yr The "no boot" problem was only with systems using certain ATI video cards. Since you already have it running with system cache (and have an Nvidea card) you don't have that problem. I'd change it back to the default system cache as that is the optimum setting for a workstation (and for running FS).Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage.
