May 28, 200620 yr Have looked into my BIOS settings and have found one that gives me the option to top performance, at the moment it is set to Disable is it OK to set this to Enable. I am using Win XP SP2, Intel Pent 2.66 GH, Have 2 Gig of Ram and have a Geforce FX 5700 graphics card. Would it cause any problems enabling Top Performance. Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks, John
May 28, 200620 yr I'd go ahead and try it. The worst that can happen is that the computer could become unstable with that option enabled but, if so, just disable it again. May 29, 200620 yr Thanks Doug, have given it a try but it wouldn`t boot up, have had to reset it back. Anyway nothing lost, at least I give it a try. Many thanks, John
May 29, 200620 yr Unfortunately, many systems do that. May 29, 200620 yr Doug, John,I wonder sometimes why they put those options there in the first place. I've got a new Dell box which allows you to Oclock the CPU...'cept for the part about voiding your warranty. Huh? Why's it there if that's the deal ;-)
May 29, 200620 yr Hi,Of couse that is in there. Do you really expect to be covered if you burn your chip up while overclocking. To some it doesn't matter, they will OC safely anyway.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
May 29, 200620 yr Jim,>>Do you really expect to be covered if you burn your chip up while overclocking.<. Oddly, they've disabled the temp sensor on the CPU...you'd think that might be important (fairly sure its got a sensor). Now, given your sig, maybe you can point me to *the* source as to making BEV, UT USA and FSG 38m mesh live happily ever after :-) Howza about if I buy Active Sky :-)jb
May 29, 200620 yr I don't have a clue. The "performance" OC option rarely works and there is usually no difference with FS9 even when it does. In most cases it's a 5% OC at best. As far as voiding the warranty only Dell knows for sure. I, too, am surprised thay have any OC available.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. May 29, 200620 yr Doug,Your reply says it all. Then again, Dell mistakes or not, the box rocks with FS :-)jbUtilities & FS screenies: [a href=http://exmixer.com" target="_blank]exmixer.com[/a]
May 29, 200620 yr Hi jb,All 3 of those things should work together fine. I don't use BEV because I like the freeware textures I have added to FS04. I do have FSG freeware mesh and UT working together fine. Maybe a post in the general forum so we don't get too far off topic here. No need to purchase ASv6 just to get my help!!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

June 2, 200620 yr Now a significant O/C on the other hand can make a huge difference if done right. My 4000 systems CPU can almost match my FX-57 when that is running at default speeds. Then if you OC the FX-57 it aint even close. Stock FX-57 got 98000 in AM3OC/d 4000 got 97700OC'd DX-57 was pushing 108k in non-SLI so not even close there but a good OC can make a HUGE difference...Wouldn't reccomend it if it will void a warranty or anything like that but can be quite fun and challenging too,Good Luck,-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledAMD FX-57 @ 3 gigsAsus A8NSLI-Premium2 gigs Corsair XMS PC3500LL 2 3 2 6 1TXFX 7900 GTX 690/1750XFX 7800 GTX 515/135024 inch Widescreen LCDDual 19 inch LCD'sRaid-0+1PCPower and Cooling 1khttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7800 GTX 515/1350 Raid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
