I'm on the fence as to whether to purchase FSX now or wait till next summer/fall when the smoke has cleared, Vista/DX10 and the appropriate hardware is sorted out, and maybe MS has released some sort of patch or update, etc. I am not very technically savy, and constant tweaking and re-installing FS9 has got me worn down. Hi Scott, Well your system is better than mine and I plan on purchasing it. I have been waiting on some add-ons for FS9 and figure that money would go to FSX and the future. I've tried the demo and its flyable @ medium to high settings on my rig and after hearing the success of the tweaks - it should only be better (hopefully). I'll still leave FS9 on my system and might pickup a PMDG later for it, but I'll eventually go the DX10/Vista route when everything finally shakes itself out. Kendall - Well, I guess I'll jump in. There have been some pretty positive posts since this one. I suppose the idea is to go slow and not expect or demand too much out of the box. I will probably upgrade my system as well about a year from now. In the mean time FS9 is a pretty darn good back up. Thanks for the feed back.Scott

I have the same Dell as you with only 1 GB RAM. FSX runs about 15 fps with sliders at 50%, it's smooth and can't complain. FS9 ran at 34 fps everything maxed out (when locked on 35 fps) with LD767 or PMDG 747. You'll be OK, but not screaming fast.
