Multiple Monitors - Can't get it working

Featured Replies

I have a PC with an ATi Radeon X1900XT. This video card has 2 DVI ports and I have 2 17" panels attached to these ports. I would like to join these two panels together and create one big screen so I can play Flight Sim X over it. Is it possible to do this? When I load flight sim, one screen goes blank and the left side has the cockpit view. I want both to have the view and the cockpit all in one. is this possible or will the cockpit become distorted? I like to use the 2D view and not the virtual cockpit. Does Microsoft even have support for this? Thanks,Jeff

If I try to use two monitors with FSX both screens go black and the whole system hangs up so I must press the reset button on the computer.I have asked about this in the MS FSX support mail address but have never got any reply.

No, it doesnt freeze up. I get one screen that works and I can play in that screen but the second screen is just black but I can drag controls over to it like my throttle control or overhead display. I was wondering if it was possible to stretch the whole screen over and utilize both screens without distorting the view.

If you are using the ATI drivers with the CCC, I think you can set it up in span mode in the Catalyst Control Centre.

If you're trying to span the 3d VC views with ATI, good luck - it will likely eat your system alive. I believe it's possible with Nvidia boards, but there is still a good FR hit. The best solution I've found to span cockpit views is the Matrox Triple or Dual Head2Go, but ATI's drivers don't play friendly with those, from what I've learned. Now I do run dual monitors with my Ati board, but the 2nd lcd is only for guages (GPS, throttle quad etc.) For those, go to windowed mode in the sim, open the other windows you wish to transfer (ie:GPS), right-click and select "undock" window; drag these to 2nd monitor and go back to full-screen mode. You can then re-size the docked windows or place them wherever you choose. For times sake, save the flight and when you re-load it just hit the shift + 2 key and the GPS or whatever will "dock" on the 2nd monitor right where they were before and the same size. You can also assign a lower reolution from within the sim to the monitor to help with FR's, should you desire.I was hoping FSX would include some more features for multi-monitor support, but it looks like we will have to wait.Hope it helps.Regards, KendallDell 8400 3.2 GHZ H.T.800 FSB/2MB L22 GB 533 DDR2X800XT 256MB/Catalyst driver - 6.9's6x Adaptive AA/16x HQ A/FIntegrated SoundDual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905CH Yoke/Pedals

What I learned from the demo is that they HAVE improved on multimonitor support. In FS9, I couldn't drag panels to my 2nd monitor in full screen mode. It didn't trouble me as I always used windowed mode.In FSX however, even in full screen mode I can easily move a panel to the second screen.Allard.

Sorry, but that doesn't seem like much by way of multi-monitor improvements.......have they really improved anything?
