Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals :)Would you please recommend a decent motherboard for E6600 chip with PCIx. Price range, a ball park of $200-300. Thanks in advance. ;)

Over the last four months I have owned the Asus P5W64 WS Professional, P5WDG2 WS Professional, P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe, P5N32-SLI Premium, Intel D975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2) and the Evga 680i, with a E6700 and a Extreme X6800 CPU.I ended up settling on the Bad Axe 2 for my Cross fire setup and the Evga 680i for my SLI setup, specs below. If you are not interested in SLI support I would recommend the Intel D975XBX2, it is the highest quality board I have owned in the last six years. It is also very stable. >Hi Jacek,>>This is reported to be one the best around: >http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813188009>>Regards,>Jim KarnI've got it, like it, and I've had almost no trouble at all with it. To be fair, there have been a lot of folks reporting issues, especially if they overclock, and the type of memory you choose can make a huge difference. I would suggest going to the EVGA forum and poking around.

I built an E6600 system with the DFI Infinity 975X ($154) with Kingston HyperX KHX6400D2LLK2/2G (KHX6400D2LLK2/2GN is recommended by DFI) 800 MHz memory and XFX 8800 GTS and it's running great. I have not yet tried to overclock the system yet.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

I built my system about a month ago and first of all had an ASUS Striker Extreme (I had two of them for mine and my dads system) but there was nothing but problems from them. I was in two minds whether to get the EVGA board or the newer MSI P6N. After checking on the EVGA website/forum and seeing all of the problems they were having (similar to the ASUS board I had), it made sense to go with the MSI P6N.The only problems I have had with the P6N is I had to change my keyboard to a USB as the PS/2 connector was making the system speaker beep whenever I was simply walking in a game, similar to hold 4 keys down at the same time but this would happen with only 1 key being pressed. The second problem is that I can only get windows to report that I have 2.75gb of memory installed even though I actually have 4gb but I think this is more a limitation of windows rather than the motherboard. The beeping problem above has been occuring in the EVGA and ASUS boards aswell as they all use the same nVidia 680i chip. However, I am glad that I got this motherboard as I have had absolutely rock solid performance out of it (apart from the issues above) and this is based on my experience with two systems (mine and my dads). The MSI P6N has also made it easy to over clock my QX6700 (see below):http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=23156&page=

Whatever you do, I highly recommend that you spend some time reading the user reviews at Newegg, recognizing that you have to take it with a grain of salt as many people make mistakes and don't know what they are talking about. But there is lots of good information there.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

I just built a new system (see sig) over this last weekend and had no problems whatsoever with the EVGA 680i. I spent several months reading reviews and trying to make my choice before going with the 680i and I'm not regretting it one bit (pun intended). My only suggestion is to compare the features of the 680i to the 650i-based boards. You may find you don't need the few extra features of the 680i and can save some cash by going with the 650i. It all depends on your unique needs.
