February 16, 200719 yr I just got a Dell 24" wide screen flat panel. I also have a Dell 19" flat panal.Anyone have a good suggestion on how to use them together? I would like to have my main veiw on the 24" then be able to drag things like the FMC or GPS etc onto the secondary panel...Or perhaps there is a better way to utilize two monitors? I would appreciate any suggestions.
February 16, 200719 yr I currently have the dell 24" widescreen (my front view) and i have a second 19" ELO Touch screen LCD monitor. where I drag over the FMC and other needed guages to. I have a nice VESA monitor arm that floats the 19" so I can move the 19" monitor around a bit. This waym I can use the FMC key pad using my fingers.I am waiting for Matrox to come out with one of their triple to go gadget that would allow me to have two other non widescreen 21" 4:3 monitors to the left and right of the 24" widescreen (in the middle).Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
February 17, 200719 yr We have very similar systems and I run VC on the 24 and guage panels (GPS,throttle,TCAS,GPWS and ATC) on the 19". I dabbled with dragging the 2d panel to the 19" and using the 24" for a front view w/o the panel, but didn't like the inability to pan. February 17, 200719 yr If you want to use your 24 inch monitor for outside view with instrument panels on the 19 inch and be able to pan the outside view. Then add PAN_IN_COCKPIT_MODE=1 to your FS9.cfg file in the section relating to controls.Martin Plain
February 17, 200719 yr Martin, do you mean I could use my 24" for my outside view only and then my other monitor for the aircraft panel view. What I would like to do is put the smaller monitor in front of me with the aircraft panel and the larger monitor also in front of me , but up higher, for the outside view. Is this possible? Thanks, Bob
February 17, 200719 yr BobYes you can do that. Two ways really, depends on your graphic card and monitors. Either set up the two monitors as a vertical span then move and resize the outside view to the upper 24inch monitor do similar for the instrument panel on the lower 19 inch monitor. If the aircraft you are using has the window frame or part attached then in display properties where you setup the vertical span reverse the monitors so that your 24 inch is shown below the 19inch. Physically they are as above. This means that you can slide the instrument panel up the 19inch monitor without an odd window frame protruding into the outside view. This should work, subject to the graphics card as long as both monitors are identical in screen format - widescreen or standard. If they are a mixture then prpbably a dual view would be a better setup undocking and draging views and pnels to the monitors. If you still want to pan in the outside view edit the cfg file as in previous post. This works very well for me and I use 6 monitors with 2 matrox modules.Hope it works for you.Martin Plain
