Licking my>chops for the new e6750 :9>What about the 6850 for high $200's????? :)Maybe the 6850 is *the* answer for usBe interesting to see how AMD's Barcelona line plays out vs. this too.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
April 9, 200719 yr Rhett,We have almost identical specs, Im running a 3700+ oc'd to 2.6 ghz with the same motherboard, and ram as you. I am running an ATI X800XL 256meg pcie card, with same HD as you as well. This is encouraging, as I had already mapped out a build utilizing the 6850, if prices go this low, it will be nice to save so much by waiting a while to upgrade, literally saving hundreds by just holding out....I can spend more in the way of a vid. card and perhaps 2 raptors instead of one....should be fun stuff.Danon O.
April 9, 200719 yr I am considering a 6850 system as well, but I have not started spec'ing anything out or doing any heavy research yet.I'm content to sit on my monstrous FS-chip 3700+ for a little while longer, then in a few months start figuring out what motherboard, ram, etc. to mate with the 6850.I kind of want to see what AMD comes up with here before making any more concrete decisions.I also want to see how FSX's SP1 plays out, because, after all, FS is my single and only consideration when building a new system, and the book has not yet been written on FSX performance.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

I have "built" a system on paper, and right now it will run me 1200 bucks. If the prices fall as they are expected, I could see giving 850 to 900 for the same system come late June. I too want to see where AMD goes, but if the trend continues Intel will more than likely dominate the bang for buck category. Time will tell....Leaning towards the ASUS Striker MB, with 2 gigs corsair, 10k rpm raptor drives running XP with an Nvidia Geforce 7950 512meg pcie card...something along those lines. right now it will run you 1200 with the E6700 processor. Needless to say I won't be doing anything until things do settle out for us in the FS world.Probably will go straight to a DX10 card with 768 to 1024 megs of ram on it. I am not going to mess around on my next build. The one I built below, was supposed to be just an interim build to run FS2004 pretty well, and wasn't intended to last too long into FSX days. However it turns out it runs FSX way better than I thought so it has stayed. Not bad for an "interim build", heheh.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
April 10, 200719 yr Author I was actually thinking of the 6750 for a cheaper interim build - I've been waiting for so long now but, times just keep a changin'. Between the actual release of DX10, the DX10 patch for FSX and the SP1 for Vista, I wonder if it will be mid to late next year before things finally shake out? By then the new 45 nano Pernyns from Intel may be close to being a reality and from what it sounds, they are worth waiting for. :-beerchugRegards, KendallDell 8400 3.2 GHZ H.T.800 FSB/2MB L22 GB 533 DDR2X800XT 256MB/Catalyst driver - 6.10's6x AA/16x HQ A/FDiamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530'sDual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905CH Yoke/Pedals Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B.
