December 31, 200718 yr All functions on CH Pro Pedals work OK except the left brake & toe brake don't show when pushed. Calibration under CM on all axis ok and in FSX under the control section, both axis are assigned and both boxes are checked.Could a pot gone bad or what do you think. If it is a pot, can they br obtained anywhere??All help will be appreciated. ThanksChuck
December 31, 200718 yr Hi Chuck,If it looks okay in the CM, there's nothing wrong with the brake. Check the FS Controls assignments and makes sure that they're assigned and that they're marked "Reversed". Also go to the FS Sensitivity and Null Zone screen and check them there. The Null Zone should be fully left, the Sensitivity fully right. Sometimes when you play with the Sensitivity, the "Reversed" box gets unchecked, but that usually results in the brake being fully on when the pedals are released.Hope this helps!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
January 1, 200818 yr Chuck, its not the pot that's gone AWOL its a broken wire mate.I had the same problem and I'd purchased the Saitek Pedals before I realised it.This is an unfortunate regular occurrence with those pedals Dave Taylor

January 2, 200818 yr Maybe something happened within FSX.cfg that is causing a conflict of sorts. I have seen some strange things happen in FS9 along that line that a new .cfg file sorted out.I suggest you try the following:1. Copy your FSX.cfg to a different folder in case this doesn't work2. Delete the FSX.cfg from the original location3. Start FSX and it will generate a new FSX.cfg4. Set up your pedals and other controllers again in FSX assignments5. Test the brakesIf they don't work, you need to check that all axis work in CH manager again. If they work there and not in FSX, then something else is happening here, perhaps in the OS somehow? That is beyond me, I can't see how that could happen as the OS also makes the CH manager work...On my system, the pedals are CH Device 1, the figherstick is device 2, and the pro throttle is device 3. The Device 1 left brake is axis X, the right brake is axis Y, and the rudder is axis Z. dolph
January 2, 200818 yr Hi Dolph,Good points! Since he's seeing CH Devices he must be running a map, so it's also a good idea to check the assignment for the toe brake in the Control Manager, too. It's easy to inadvertently leave the axis unassigned there and it never gets to the sim at all. There are just so many ways that the data can get lost on the way to FS, it's hard to say where it's gone astray. The Test/Calibrate display for the pedal when the CM is in Direct Mode shows the data that's coming up the wire from the stick in the Raw Data display. If it works there, there's something further along that's interfering with things. If it doesn't work there, the brake is faulty, probably the broken wire that G7USL mentioned. Thanks for jumping in!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com

I get NO data in the CH Manager calibration window, so it appears I will be in need of CH service or opening up the pedals myself. Anyone done it and what are the pitfalls? I already cracked my yoke.... :-roll....and that didn't seem as daughting as other had described. BTW, both are outside of warrenty. January 3, 200818 yr Thanks for info Bob. It turned out the wrong axis was selected in CM. I must have accidently changed it as it worked before. ALL OK NOW.THANKS

January 3, 200818 yr Hi jahman, good advice about the digital pics as you go. I was able to find some over at the ch hangar, so I won't be going in blind. I have ruled out the pot, so it looks like i'll be going inside after a broken wire soon and while I'm at it, I'm going to replace the cheap, thin wiring CH provided with something more stout. Thanks again! January 5, 200818 yr My left toe brake went out as well months ago and it was a hardware failure. This doesn't help you any but it's obviously possible.
January 6, 200818 yr Hi AirBadger86,Yes, I never meant to imply that it wasn't possible, but if it works in the Control Manager Test Screen or in the Windows Calibration Applet, then it's not a hardware problem. It has to be something to do with the way it's configured.Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
January 7, 200818 yr Got my toe brake back and replaced all the cheap "phone" wires to boot. It took a couple of hours and it's not really that bad to dig into these. The biggest pain is not the springs, but keeping the pot in place during re-assembly. I made it easier by using some double-sided tape and extending the length of the main wiring harness to the PCB. I think CH needs to step up to some better wiring in these - too many problems - if they need to charge more, so be it.
