The real minimum requirement for FSX

Featured Replies

I would like to know what the REAL minimum requirement is for FSX.Assume you wan't UT FSGenesis mesh and Active Sky and addonplanes.I'm not talking about max every slider or getting alltime high fps.I'm prepared for comprimises but still it has to look better than FS9+UT+FE+mesh+addonplanes and I wan't to be able to enjoy the improved realism in FSX. If so what could a real minimum requirement be?My impression after trying FSX is 2 Gb RAM and a 512N DDR3 RAM videocard and some kind of dual core CPU but which one?

Min Spec? I'd say cpu-wise, at least what I have (3700+ overclocked), which roughly corresponds to the low-end Intel Core2 line. Basically, you can spend $250 on a cpu (Q6600 or equivalent dual-core), that will do what you want (good running sim with mindful compromises) in FSX.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

No they are not.....for instance, without overclocking, the AMD 6000 outperforms the E4300 (core 2 duo cpu)http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.htm...2=882&chart=435However, in general, the C2D chips overclock better than even the newer AMD's

I just "NewEgg'd" these componants today and hope to get a decent frame rate. They should be here Monday. Plus it wasn't a massive hit on the wallet. I plan on SLIing the 8800GT when the prce come down in about a year.TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

No. Take for instance the lower end Core2's:Core 2 Duo E6420 - 2.13 GHz (4 MB L2, 1066 MHz FSB)Core 2 Duo E6400 - 2.13 GHz (2 MB L2, 1066 MHz FSB)Core 2 Duo E6320 - 1.86 GHz (4 MB L2, 1066 MHz FSB)Core 2 Duo E6300 - 1.86 GHz (2 MB L2, 1066 MHz FSB)...and the mobile versions of these...There are A64's that will run right up in their ballpark.Now, you're thinking of the higher-end Core2's. The E6600's and E6700's and on up. Sure, those will outpace an A64.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

>>I also had the E4500 and E4600 in mindThose are Allendales. I have not built with those. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Since I haven't built with them, I can't comment with authority on them, but I can say I would guess that any of the higher-end AMD cpu's would run with those, like I said up to the E6600. When you get above E6600 level, that's where AMD and Intel start separating in terms of raw speed. You may want to consider the new 45nm Intel dual-cores that are out now, too. They have great performance along with a reasonable price.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
