March 26, 200818 yr I have changed monitors to a 28" that runs at 1920x1200- and was wondering if there was any other VC that would benefit me at this point? I have the factork OC'd (KO) eVGA 8800GT 512- if not currently, are there any other offerings from nVidia coming down the pike? Also, as far as drivers I am running the latest WHQL driver release- any thoughts or preferences there? Obviously I run nHancer as well....thanks!Best-Carl F. Avari-Cooper BAW0225http://online.vatsimindicators.net/980091/523.png Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
March 26, 200818 yr Hi,You could look toward buying another 8800 GT if you have the right motherboard. According to Phil Taylor, turning up resolution forces the game to use a 2nd GPU (1920x1200 or higher). Or, you could get an 8800 GTX, but I think that's overkill.Regards, Regards, BoeingGuy ASUS P5E X38 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz on 1600 MHz FSB (400x8) | 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM | EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked @ 679/979 | 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM HD
March 26, 200818 yr Author SLI is out - I'm not opposed to the GTX- but is there anything close in the wings- summer release.....??Best-Carl F. Avari-Cooper BAW0225http://online.vatsimindicators.net/980091/523.png Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
March 28, 200818 yr Download FSXMark07 here from AVSIM. Do two runs - one at 1920x1200 and the other at whatever res you were running before the monitor upgrade (regardless of how it looks on screen). Have your FSX and AA/AF settings exactly as you currently use them.If there is neglible or minimal (<10%) performance difference between the two runs (as I expect there will be) and FSX is keeping up with the load without offloading scenery draws (lowest FPS > 10), save your money until the FSXI upgrade cycle.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
