April 10, 200818 yr Hi,I recently upgraded my PSU from 450W to 620W and my GPU from 8800GTS/320 to 8800GTX/768 and found out that my framerates are significant increased but the overall performance much slower then before. Checking the performance indicator in Vista tells me that I was dropped from a 5.9 to 4.3 due to the primary harddisk. (?)I made these upgrade because I was thinking that the 320 Mb GPU was a bottleneck at 1920x1200, even under fs9 and a couple of weeks ago I purchased 2x Raptor 150 because the texture loading in FS9 was not fast enough and I was blaming my older Samsung Sata2 drives. So finally I spent a little of Euro 600 to improve overall speed (not FPS) but recieved a less responding system with still popping scenery textures in FS9. I never had it fluid, even not at the 5.9 ranking and tried already all the tips and tricks on these forums.Where am I wrong....I'm working with XP and Vista64 on a dual boot configuration, have 1 Raptor for XP/Vista and 1 Raptor exclusive for FS9/FSX and fly under Vista64 because this was for me the only solution to fly without OOMS.Furthermore I have 2x Samsung 300Gb Sata2 installed for regular work and a 400Gb Hitachi IDE drive for backup. Pagefiles are set to the other Samsung drives and handled by the operating systems. After installing the CPU and GPU I have made new .CFG files for FS9 and FSX, removed the Nvidia drivers (cleaned up with driver cleaner pro) installed again the latest 174.74 drivers and at last performed a complete Ultimate Defrag file/folder cycle on the Raptors.Any advice of someone with a Gigabyte P35 in combination with Raptors will be fine. Thanks in advance and happy landings...Intel C2D6750 oc to 3,2-2x 2Gb MDT DDR2-800 Mhz at 5.5.5.12 Gigayte P35-SP3-2x Raptor 150Gb

I think it should be on the system drive which should also be the fastest drive.
April 11, 200818 yr Assuming the Gigabyte P35 is similar to the my Asus P5K series, did you load the Intel Chipset driver and Drive Matrix Utility? I have mine set as "raid-ready" using the Intel "Raid" settings in the BIOS but do not actually raid them together. This way, the drives are managed by the Intel Matrix driver and controller with automatics optimim settings like write-back and NCQ.Are they the latest driver versions from the Intel website? In the Drive Matrix utility, do the drives show and the setting correct? How about a HD benchmark form some real comparisions? I see you have seperated the OS from FSX across the Raptors so you're fine there. How about deleting the Pagefile, reboot, hard-set a pagefile of 3072, reboot, and perfrom an offline-defrag with your favorite quality defrag proggy. Check the Advance settings of the drive-controller channels under the Windows Device manager and make sure the optimum settings are checked.Just a few thoughts...Regards, Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
