Out of Memory - any more advice on the old chestnut?

Recommended Posts

HiAny update on this?Has the relocation of payware landclass files been successful in eliminating the OOM without the 3Gb patch installed?Thank youGhiomPS: I a back without it since with it and any kind of userva setting, I get horrible stutters and display issues, especially at the end of flights.

In the end I didn't do it - there are so many, any there seems no point moving hundreds of files from 'respectable' sceneries, like VOZ, FreeFlow etc. and so on, when they all seem to be properly placed anyway. Moreover, if I fly the same routes with different a/c I get no problems at all: if it were a landclass problem I'd be getting large drains on RAM (even if no OoM) whatever a/c I flew.I am going abroad early this week for some months, so won't have chance to do much more on this till the end of the year when I get back,M.

Ghiom,FYI...I finally used FSManager to relocate some of my landclass files (and fix a couple of other scenery.cfg issues) and have not had OOM errors with the two new sceneries that were gving me problems on my last few flights.

Thought I would chime in... I use /2560 with dual 8800GTX with no issues at all. I haven't had any OOM's until 3 days ago when approaching EGLL in the PMDG QOS. Turns out I am not the only one with an issue when these two add-ons play together... No issues 12 hours to HKG but 12 hours back = OOM.No other add-on sceneries active...I have been disabling ALL but my Departure/Arrival add-ons for 1.5 years now :)To the point though; /2560 has been perfect for me,-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E8500 468X9.5 @ 4.45Asus Maximus Extreme2 gigs OCZ Reaper DDR3 @1400Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigsDual VelociRaptor 10k 3gb/s RAID-0Dual WD Caviar 500 gig Raid-0Single 150Gig SATA2 Swap Drive28 inch LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sPCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLISaitek Yoke, Saitek Rudders, Go-Flight Flap,Gear and Trim Controlhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigsIntel E6600 @ 3.2Asus P5N32E-SLI Plus3 Gigs Kingston Hyper XXFX 8600 GTAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpg

Vista 64 and an extra 2Gs of DDR3-1066 and those OOMs will be nothing but "the good ol' days." It's sure a pleasure to just fly the airplane and not have to worry about all that techno-stuff (Other than if LSAS is really working!)

Hi,It can also be caused by a 'dodgy' scenery BGL file - usually a AFCAD file. Not opinion - fact....I had one that I created and it became corrupted...remove it in Scenery Library...perfect...re-activate it....OME at the main flight creation screen....a soon as I select that particular airport.Always keep a backup of your Scenery/Addon scenery folders...first thing to check if you suddenly get OME's.

Sam, does Vista 64 run FSX better than XP? I seemed to have solved the OOM thing with the switch and FSX.exe modification. I still have an unopened copy of Vista 64. One o' these days I will connect a new drive n go for it. I think I will just boot out of the BIOS and forget dual boot thru windows.
