Saitek throttle setup

Featured Replies

I've bought a combined unit of the saitek yoke and throttle. The throttle connects to the main unit via a ps2 port (like an old mouse port) rather than the usb. The power light on the quadrant is on. I cannot for the life of me work out how to setup and configure the throttle quadrant. The yoke works fine. At present I have A1/A2 as throttle, which is far from perfect. Please cansomeone help or email me the correct configuration file. I'm on fs9 with vista. Thanks.

This will probably be moved to the Hardware forum, but for what it's worth:Using Saitek drivers, FS sees the throttle as part of the yoke. Just make your axis asisgnments accordingly and all should be well. For example, I use the left and middle levers as T1/T2 and the right lever for flaps. The buttons at the bottom of the throttle range are assigned in FSUPIC to F2,which gives jet engine reverse. The buttons controlled by the rocker switches at the bottom front of the throttle unit are assigned to the respective engine fuel controls and are used during engine start.Again, axis assignments are made in FS, button assignment and calibration by FSUPIC. I use only the Saitek drivers. Jim Harnes

The Saitek yoke+throttle appears to windows and FS as a single controller. I prefer to use the term "throttle" since "quadrant" is a stand-alone controller (though it is otherwise identical to the throttle unit). The first question is did you install the Saitek drivers or profile software? The yoke+throttle work fine with the default ms HID drivers. The vista game controllers applet should see the controller and report it as 5 axis and 25 (or so, can't remember) buttons and a single POV hat.In FS9 controls menu you can select the saitek and assign the 5 axis as desired, then the buttons. DO NOT attempt to assign the buttons on the 3-position mode switch. (they may default to being assigned to things like gear up/down). I highly recommend REMOVING all button assignments, both in normal flight and slew modes, then adding assignments in one by one so you are sure what button is assigned to what command. You might consider buying FSUIPC since that will allow you to have assignments unique for each aircraft type.scott s..

im guessing i can get this driver from the saitek website?I only use the saitek throttle, i have a yoke but it is ch product, I too have problems assigning throttle movements and button assignments.

Thanks folks. On restaring the PC for a third time, the throttles have started to work! So, for the moment at least, everything is ok. The documentation is extremely unclear, which is an empedement to re-assigning the levers. I will look into getting FSUIC (or whatever its called)Thanks again.
