How to resolve scenery.cfg error message?

Featured Replies

I've been having some system instability problems lately due to a bad stick of RAM and unfortunately I think a system crash affected my FS9 configuration. Each time I launch the sim I get two error messages about two scenery locations (scenery/cities/dallas in area .017 and .018) missing. Is there anyway to resolve this without having to nuke FS9 and reinstall it? Thanks.

I know they isn't the orthodox way to do it but when it happened to me I just shut it up by placing two blank folders by the same name and location that it describes in the error msg. It works well and after the fact I figured out another fix by editing the cfg but I just can't remember how right now. In the meantime those two empty folders are still doing their job.I'm sure someone else will have the more correct fix.

You should be able to find the multiple entries in FS9's add-on scenery manager. Going in the the 'scenery.cfg' file is to cumbersome as the problem entry might be too high in the list causing you to manually renumber everything below it (after you've found the problem). You have to really look to find the problem in FS9's scenery manager but rest assured the problem duplicated is there. You should never reinstall FS9 because of something like this. This is one of the easiest problems to resolve of the various problems you could have with the sim...Good luck... :-)

DO NOT REINSTALL!!In the normal install area 17 is SceneryCitiesDallas and area 18 is SceneryCitiesDenver . both of these have a single bgl file in the scenery subfolder and a large number of phototiles in the texture subfolder. You should be a ble to just scroll trhough scenery.cfg and see if the entries for these are OK. Or as advised use the in-game scenery library. Remember that scenery library edits only take after you restart FS9.scott s..
