January 17, 200719 yr I lost my Fs2004 original install of FSM.I just downloaded it again from Avsim (fsm285.zip).However, after I install it, and then try to run it, I get an error that "I am trying to run an old version of FSM, please go to www.ranainside,com to get the latest version". Well, there no longer is a website by that name. It seems to me that there was a fix for this problem, but I sure cannot remember what it was. Does anyone know?
January 17, 200719 yr Yes you need to reset your computer clock to a date & month before December 2006.The programmer included a timeout on this software. So you need to reset your clock, use the program then set your clock back to the correct time.
January 17, 200719 yr Author Thanks for that info, I'll try that.It just seemed to me that the author had also provided a "fix" to that situation in the past. When I got this error, I seem to remember also getting it back in 2005 when I originally upgraded from the previous version - and then had to contact the author about a fix. I has been using FSM up until I had a recent hard drive crash.
January 18, 200719 yr In Flightsim.com there's a patch for making FSManager work. I haven't tried it. Search there for "startfsm.zip" (of course, without quotes). Now, why haven't I seen this file here? January 18, 200719 yr Commercial Member It is here in the library, and it works great.http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=rootIt's a simple batch file that just sets your computer's clock back to the current date in 2005 long enough to get FSManager started and then it switches it back to the normal date half a second later. You just extract it to the FSManager folder and make a shortcut to it on your desktop or start menu then all you have to do is double click it and FSManager starts up just like it always did. Works great.Jim
January 19, 200719 yr Author Thanks so much, I really appreciate the help.I was pretty sure I had this problem originally, but wasn't sure where or what the fix was. I searched avsim files for "FSM", but only found all the various versions of it.
