  1. And now, Francois is gone from the magazine. He is a great guy, but if you hadn't been paid in over 6 months what would you do? Check him out at: FSAddon Publishing The Netherlands & France www.fsaddon.com www.fsaddon.eu This magazine will never get going again, I'm afraid. That means I lost over 2 years' of paid up subscription money (which was for the remaining subscription term that I had when the mag was sold by PC Aviator). That's just "chump change" to what the former employees of Computer Pilot have lost! What angers me the most is that I was constantly being told that my paid up subscription would be honored IN FULL, then that I would receive a subscription balance based upon what I had paid PC Aviator and extrapolated to the single issue prices of the new magazine, then that I would be sent the 1st issue, then that the issue HAD been sent (3 times). Well, I never got a single issue and had it not been for a great guy like Francois Dumas, I would not have even got the PDF download! Well, lesson learned I guess. I just want to warn people - DO NOT subscribe to something that does not exist! If/when it should get started again (not likely) then make your decision.
  2. Well, I guess I'll add "my 2 cents" as well. Forget it, here is the post I made on another forum about that deal: Just wanted to prevent other flight simmer enthusiasts from loosing/wasting their money. The magazine, Computer Pilot, was produced by a US & Australian company called PC Aviator. Well, this part of the operation (the magazine) was sold late last year. I, for one, had over 2 years' subscription remaining and was assured by the new owner (Marc Goergen) that ALL subscriptions would be honored. Well, let me warn you, that is a bunch of crap! They did publish a single issue, back in April/May timeframe. However, I don't believe, with any certainty, that anyone actually ever received a printed copy. It was available to (some) subscribers via a PDF download. I made many queries regarding my subscription, got tons of "promises" but NEVER received ANYTHING. I saved all my emails but doubt it will ever do any good 'cause they are in Germany and I'm in America - what options would I have? They had one excellent guy working there (the Editor, Francois Dumas) & a good US support person, Pamela. However BOTH have left the company as they had NEVER been paid (over 6 months of back pay due them). My dismay is that there is still an active website - www.computerpilot.com - that is trying to get people to "subscribe" (to a non-existent magazine)! They have even pulled down the "forum" as it was filled with stories like mine! Caution to all - be aware & purchase at your own risk! I truly feel sorry for people that have purchased subscriptions since that new outfit acquired the magazine. I was told by an "insider" that "the new owner was not aware of the number of paid subscribers"! Well, that would be dumb, because they even print the "number of paid subscriptions" in every issue of the magazine! So, buyer beware!
  3. TRYING TO FIX IT TO THE RIGHT HAT:Thanks for your reply..................In CH Manager, the settings DO get reversed as to the buttons & the multiple "views",ie. 4 positions for the non-pov, 8 positions for the pov. When I swapped the POV to the right hat, I did not select any settings for the left hat (they are defaulted to, I think, switches 11, 12, 13, & 14). When I was using them on the right hat, I had not assigned the switches to anything there either.Anyway, here's what I have tried................... I downloaded & ran the new version of the CH software, V.4.51.I selected the "swap pov to right hat switch".I verified that the "map" did get updated, I "downloaded" the MAP.However, when I started up FSX and went to the settings for the Eclipse Yoke controller in FSX, which still had the "View Pan" set up for the POV hat, it still only worked with the LEFT hat switch.I tried removing the setting in FSX, shut down FSX, then re-booted the computer.I ran the CH manager again, and now the "Eclipse POV on right" was UNCHECKED.Anyway, re-checked it, saved the setting, started up FSX, went to the controller settings in FSX, went to the "View Pan" setting, selected to create the assignment. However, FSX did not recognize the right hat when I "moved the RIGHT hat". I moved the LEFT hat and it accepted that assignment. I did not see any method to define the "Right hat switch".When I shut down FSX and ran the CH Manager the "move pov to right hat" the setting had been unchecked, apparently something is screwed up w/FSX.Anyway, here's the problem in a nutshell:1. Remove the "view pan" settings in FSX for the CH Eclipse2. Set the "swap POV" in CH Manager, save map, download map3. Startup FSX & go to controller settings4. FSX does NOT see either hat as a pov (ie. move either hat for the settings to recognize it)5. Shut down FSX, run CH Manager - verify "switch pov" is unchecked, save/download map6. Startup FSX, go to "view pan" setting7. FSX now recognizes & sets up LEFT hat pov8. FSX just will NOT "see" the right hat as a pov!So, guess the problem is with FSX, NOT with the Eclipse yoke!Could also be another stinking anomaly with Windows 7 - I have certainly found plenty of them so far!
  4. I downloaded the most recent CH software which does allow to "swap" the POV to the right hat switch. However, FSX settings for the Eclipse yoke to select "View Pan" only recognizes the LEFT hat switch?Anyone been able to use the RIGHT hat switch for POV instead of the left one on the CH Eclipse Yoke?If so, please help. My old CH Yoke only had a hat switch on the right side. I'm too used to it being on the right. However the new Eclipse yoke has hat switches on both sides w/default for POV on the left.
  5. Well, you're partially right. Most of the real world ops has been moved to White Sands. But, don't tell Microsoft - have you tried the Acceleration Mission? It's still alive & well in FSX Accel.Glen
  6. Thanks, Jean-Paul, for the info.I am going to try more of Guy's great sceneries when I get the chance.I can surely see why his site is popular.I'd guess that with the recent posts here, it will probably get more "universally" popular. If that windsock can be believed at LFLJ, I guess landings really have to be made from the upper end, no wonder I was having such a hard time coming in from the valley end, runway sloping uphill. Wow, wonder how to stop if I approach from the other (lodge side) end with that huge downhill slope? Sorry, forgot the runway numbers, so did not know how else to explain it.
  7. Hi, just realized that you, too, had posted about the Courcheval freeware site - www.vf-air.com.Boy, that LFLJ scenery is nice and the runway is sure an experience. That website is a little difficult to traverse through if you don't understand French at least a little bit, but well worth trying. So, many thanks to you as well for the info.Glen
  8. Well, friendly and "froggy" guy, thanks so much for telling us about the website www.vf-air.com.Went there and downloaded Courecheval files:LFLJx1.zip & LFLJdata.zip.I had a little bit of a problem getting past the French descriptions, but the scenery is great and it was a blast not just landing there, but taking off was sure an experience as well!Merci, merci, merci -Some really nice pictures on that website also.GlenTexas, USA
  9. David, I am sorry for probably being the one responsible for corrupting Manny's post.I truly apologize to all, especially to Manny. What a fab job he did (even if he is also a Texan like me)!I was one of the very fortunate ones to be involved in beta-testing his progression on this software. So, Manny, if you read this - my apologies. And this is my last post on this subject -I'm outa here y'all!
  10. Yup!No replies. This goes back to early-Dec.One poster with the same problem as mine actually lives in Australia. He even called their offices, just got voice mail, they never responded. The only email address that replied to me was Robert Ferraro at pcaviator, which is where I purchased the software and lots of other software as well - plus I am a charter subscriber to their magazine "Computer Pilot". A great publication by the way. This is the reply I got from him ([email protected]) on 12/10/07:---------------------------------------Glen - megascenery support e-mail is [email protected] . I am not surewhere you found [email protected]. All e-mails to support@megasceneryare received and replied to.Robert FerraroPC Aviator Inc.www.pcaviator.com----------------------------------------------So, I emailed him back a few days later with this message:-----------------------------------------------Robert, I did appreciate your reply, but it has done no good either. You stated:All e-mails to [email protected] received and replied to.Well, that's where I sent it.Also, I got that original email address from an old email I had received a long time ago.I also have sent emails to other old addresses ([email protected] and [email protected]) without getting any response.I sent an email to the email address you mentioned on Monday. I still have not received a response, not even a "canned" autoresponder!I also posted again my frustration on the Megascenery Support Forum, under "Technical Issues FSX".------------------------------------------------Subsequently I got a reply from him (12/14/07) that stated:-------------------------------------------------Glen
  11. Do you also have the FSX 10m mesh by Raimondo Taburet for Hawaii?Just curious, 'cause all I have for the base is Megascenery Hawaii, plus the 10m mesh.Oh, and now Manny's FABULOUS add-on - boy what a job he has done!It works fine without SP2 also. But, seems no one with SP2 is having any problems with his add-on either.I do have some add-on stuff for PHNL and for Waikiki. However, with or without the PHNL airport scenery, I still get the photoscenery bleeding through runways, taxiways & some other scenery areas at not only PHNL, but at various Oahu large & small airports - including Dillingham!I had no problems before, until I installed Accel/SP2.Uninstalling SP2 fixed it - so cannot run SP2 w/Megas. Hawaii - period. And, seems like people w/So. Cal. Megas. also have the same probs!Plus - NO SUPPORT on their SUPPORT forum (which is the ONLY place to seek support for their software!Yeah, I'm mad. But, I just won't buy anything else from them.
  12. Yeah - hmmmmmm!Well, I for one DO have Megascenery Hawaii.Granted, I do like it - mostly. However, it is totally screwed up on MY configuration when I try to use Acceleration/SP2. So, I choose to go without Accel/SP2 and know I have wasted $30 on something I can't use as long as those people DO NOT WANT to support their product! I will NEVER purchase anything else from Megascenery, and I surely will warn everyone else about their total non-support of their products!! 1. Find a RECENT reply by them to ANY of the posts on their so-called "support" forum!2. Take a look at all the posts there - there are TONS of problems, especially since SP2 came out! Some problems to which they responded way back in July or so LAST YEAR (long past their last patch) even made admission to "bleed through" of photoscenery due to using 10m mesh and how they had to MAKE A PATCH like they had done in the past to So. Cal. 3. Your opinion is just that - yours!Definitely NOT mine nor lots of others out there who NEVER get any response from aerosoft.au developers/support!Sorry, but I totally disagree with you - my perrogative of course, but I'm quite sure I am not alone!

Try landing at Edwards in Calif. There are several long runways there -it is an alternate shuttle landing spot.Real flat all around, no AI stuff flying around you.Think it's KEDW, else just select United States, California, Edwards.
  14. Check that AutoThrottle is turned OFF.I even lower the IAS hold setting to zero and control speed myself after reaching around 1,000 feet on jets. Another thing to watch is the total loadout - full fuel load makes it hard to stop!

I did find that to be true - I had done a frsh install of FSX prior to installing Acceleration.I had previously read postings on Avsim and on FSinsider about SP1 & SP2 being in Acceleration. After installing Accel, then adding my FSX Megascenery D/FW and Hawaii titles I experienced too many problems - most specifically being unable to run in full-screen mode - but also various CTD's, I decided to uninstall Acceleration. Well, it also REMOVED both SP1 AND SP2. Then I did have to re-install the SP1 download I had from an earlier time.I had also re-installed Accel. AFTER finding that NVidea had a new driver and it would fix the CTD problem, as long as I ran in "windowed" mode. So, I re-installed Accel. after updating my video driver to V.163.75. I still had various problems w/Accel. So, decided to get rid of Accel. - AGAIN. After so doing, checked my FSX version and it appeared to be right back to original - WITHOUT SP1. Removing Accel removed it! So, had to install SP1 all over again!Just my doggoned frustration showing again I guess!I do really appreciate all the postings on these forums, though, and have found LOTS of help & advice. Thanks much to all the posters out there!Glen
  16. Guess no one could answer your original question, huh?I'd like to know that as well.Edwards did look pretty cool, before I pulled the plug on Accel.Seems like ONE person that replied likes Accel! Well, goodie for that person - however it sure SCREWED UP my system!I had to do a fresh install of FSX before installing Accel. Then didn't put on SP1 'cause it is supposed to be included, along with SP2, on the Accel. DVD.Well, after I uninstalled Accel, it took off the service pack(s) TOO! So, then had to go back and reinstall SP1. Sure getting tired of all this install/uninstall/reinstall/register/register/register/defrag - endlessly!I have an AMD X2 4200+ and possibly what is most incompatible - the 7900GS nVidea card! I don't use Vista nor DX10. Well, I am not blaming my problems on nVidea, I blame it on MS$$$$ for not testing the lousy SP2 properly. Sure hope the SP2, when it does come out by itself, is much better than what is on the Accel DVD!
  17. nVidia just came out with a new driver (V. 163.75) on the 7th.I downloaded it, uninstalled my old drivers (V. 163.71), then re-installed the new version. Besure to uninstall the old drivers first (also, save your nvidia settings first). Was able to run full screen, flying a couple of different A/C (incl. the FA/18) and didn't crash (so far).Anyway, I have a 7900GS card and seems like a lot of people reporting the same problems have a 79xx video card also.Sure hope this does the trick!I was sure beginning to hate that I spent money on Accel. and it wouldn't wotrk (properly)!
  18. I have seen posts in a couple of topics - especially the one about acessing the menu bar in full screen mode (the problem that really got me to hate the SP2 patch).I just finished the download for my 7900GS and will be trying it out tonight.Sure hope it works.
  19. Thanks for letting us know of the new driver.I have a 7900GS card and had driver version 163.71.Am downloading the latest driver (163.75) now.Sure hope it works for me too!
  20. Thanks.Just read on another related post that someone downloaded a new version of nvidia drivers for the 79xx series. It is v 163.75, I have 163.71.It apparently fixed that persons' problem (also a 79xx), so am downloading now.Sure hope it works, I really prefer a clean screen instead of windowed mode.
  21. I loaded Accel and have had nothing but problems! Will be pulling the crap off until something (if anything) gets done to fix the multitude of problems that I am reading about on these forums!I expect my nvidea 7900GS card may be part of the problem, but I can ONLY get things to SORT OF work as long as I fly in windowed mode (which I hate). I always flew in full screen mode before Accel.Read about using windowed mode with 79xx cards, so switched to that.Tried the FA/18, system kept hanging up at various points. Then went to try the P-51, that just kept going left (must have been created by a Nascar fan). The hang ups are usually really irritating because the system just freezes, not a simple CTD. So have to turn off with power switch and reboot! Even ctl-alt-del wouldn't work.It even hung up while I was flying along in the FSX original CRJ when I tried to shift display modes with my CH yoke button.I have a utility that shows my system memory & video memory usage in the taskbar - neither item showed as maxed out when hangs occured.I do not use Vista, running XP Pro w/SP2.AMD 64 X2 4200+, 2Gb Corsair DDR, 1 IDE drive for OS, dual SATA 160Gb drives (FS9 on 1, FSX on other), nvidea 7900GS w/256K - drivers version is 163.71.
  22. Boy, I sure would like it too!Man, nothing but problems since putting Accel. on my FSX.Mostly weird screen displays from cockpit mode in full screen.Read posts about problems with nVidea 79xx series cards - I have a 7900GS.Most of the cockpit problems seem to have gone away as long as I DO NOT use full screen - well hate flying that way.Get constant "lock-ups" using the new Accel. P-51 or the Fighter jet.Funny, doesn't happen with the same model planes that I have downloaded off avsim - plus they DO have 2D panels! At no particular points, so just won't use those dumb Accel. planes, I guess! With these doggoned "lock-ups", I have had to completely reboot, no keystrokes (even ctl-alt-del are accepted). A CTD would sure have been a lot better!
  23. Check which drive/directory it is installed in.The FSX Acceleration software defaults to C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesThere is a point during the install where you can specify the place where FSX resides. I think it has a selection called "OPTIONS" at the bottom of one of the initial install screens. Also, I could not get mine to install to my "modified" version of FSX.Had to get it back to a "clean" install. What a disaster that was! Uninstalled FSX, then applied both of the FSX install DVDs, got to the end of the last one and got the 1722 error screen! Thanks to these forums I found out about the Error 1722 patch from Microsoft. So, downloaded that, followed the directions, went through BOTH of the DVDs again, it completed the install. Then tried to install Accel., it still didn't work, said my product wasn't activated. It never asked me to Activate it at any point. Checked some more and found that one user posted they had to run Add/Remove Programs for the SP1 install. I did that, then it would let me install FSX (using the Repair function). I re-activated the damned thing, then it let me install Acceleration. What a pile of crap it turned out to be. Took all damned day yesterday!I saw on one of the posts that someone stated "too bad we cannot send a bill to Micro"crap" to get paid for all the time we have to waste becuse of their lousy methods to "protect" their product from software thieves"! Well, I legally purchased all this damned stuff - at RETAIL! I spent enough damned money upgrading my system so it would "sort of" run this product. I have had to do a FRESH install TWICE now (SP1 & now Accel.), have had to re-activate the lousy software about SIX times because of my hardware changes, plus the re-installs I had to do! And lost track of how many defrags I have had to do.
  24. Thanks to all who replied.I got rid of the culprit - Active Camera - had a heck of a time to "get it gone" 'till I found the Active Camera's own uninstall.Anyway, it's gone, got my "tower view" back. Also downloaded F1view right here off the avsim site. It is really nice for looking around inside the plane, haven't figured out how to do a "walkaround" outside though.
  25. My FS9 "tower view" does not work properly.I am still fighting the battles trying to get my FS9 back up & running after a hard drive problem. I restored my backup FS9 directory, after installing and formatting a new hard drive (Note: I have FS9 on a different drive than my Win XP Pro). Of course, I then had to go back and install FS9 all over again, as XP had to get everything it uses rebuilt (DLL's, etc.). I am not sure what the heck happened, but after finally getting everything back up and running (all add-ons - scenery, airplanes, etc., etc.), I still have one problem which confounds me. All my airplane views are fine except the Tower view. It always opens up inside the "guts" of the plane. Then, when I adjust the zoom out, I find my view to always be looking toward the front left side of the plane, at ground level. How in heck do I get back to the original default tower view?Additional notes:I have "Active Camera", however unchecking all of its' functions does not seem to make any difference.
