They can be placed into any active scenery. Just be sure to place them in the "scenery" folder.I would recommend that you place them into a new folder labeled "scenery" (without the quotation marks). Place that folder, "scenery", into a new folder labeled "free 19 meter USA west scenery". Place "free 19 meter USA west scenery" into .../FS9/addon scenery. Then go into the scenery library within FS9 and activate "free 19 meter USA west scenery".This will make maintenance easier and if for some reason you want to get rid of it you simply delete it from the scenery library, and, if you wish, delete the "free 19 meter USA west scenery" folder.just my 2cents worth.

Just a friendly reminder that all those BGL files will be taking up space unless you go and edit the FS9.Cfg file, adjusting the TerrainMaxVertexLevel to 21. Otherwise they won't show the added benefit that the 19.6m resolution brings.

Meshman..... you hit a nerve here. Could this be the reason that the newly installed FS Genesis mesh of the Alps which is also 19.1 m, installed to "Addon-Scenery" and added to the Scenery Library, NOT show up in FS2004 until I ALSO installed it to its default location of "scenery/world/scenery" ? Could you explain how changing this numer works ? Most of the FS Genesis USA is 38.2m mesh. 19.1m would be twice as good. Does anyone know where to get this USA 19.1m mesh? jerrycwo4

The TMVL setting is used by the sim to increase or decrease mesh resolution display properties. Default is 19, which equals 76m, 20 = 38m, 21 = 19.6m. IIRC, FS9 will not attempt to interpolate the existing mesh to try and obtain a higher level of display. So a setting of 21 will not yield better results using the FSG 38m mesh for the US. FS9 will only go as low as 19.6m on mesh.I can't really address why the FSG mesh didn't appear to be displaying when it was installed to the Addon scenery folder. All the mesh that I've installed over the years gets it's own folder, such as Addon sceneryFSG US meshscenery and is then activated through the scenery library. The 19m mesh is probably the work of Raimondo Tauberet (sp?) and could be found at sites other than Avsim.

So place all mesh in .../FS9/addon scenery? I have mine currently where all my AI BGL files are at, which is scenery/world....Thanks,Bill

I keep all of my terrain and scenery in a seperate folder, not in FS and activate each file add-on. No problems.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain
