Darker blue skies?

Featured Replies

Anyone care to point me in the direction of a free texture package which gives more realistic blue skies in FS9 at altitude? I currently use ASV but their textures are too pale... When I searched the forum I found plenty of posts from a few years back that this or that developer was working on it so I would suppose someone finished..!I checked out Environment Indigo and Silver Wings already but these are also very pale. Perhaps it can't be done but that would suprise me... it should just be a case of darkening the texture images (not that I have the time to try it, there are a lot of textures!)Geoff

Actually ASG does have some pretty dark blue sky textures itself.I usually use ASV6 d/l the real weather and then ASG to select the sky/cloud to go with that weather. Quite often ASG selects a sky texture that is too light for my liking so I tend to hold on to the dark blue sky texture regardless of the weather. But which one is it? ....I do not know at the moment. :(

Thanks for that. I've had a look and in the end I've added the Smooth-horizons pack from the libary here as a theme is ASG and set that as the sky with clouds etc on wx-influenced (I hope that's how it will work but it might also just bne random - that'd be ok too!)Adding that to the bloom-plugin has made the whole experience a lot better looking without really any performance hit :)Geoff

Back when FS9 first came out the author below modified textures for darker skies. I just checked and it is still here in the library.
