July 21, 200817 yr Is there a program that will compress FRAPS created videosand retain more or less the same high quality? Freeware orPayware, it doesn't matter. Thanks Joaquin Blanco Intel Core i9-9900K at 5Ghz, Corsair Hydro H100i RGB PLATINUM CPU cooler, Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E,Motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB GDDR6, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Memory, 500GB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 PCIe,2TB Samsung 860 QVO Solid State Drive, 2TB, 2 x Samsung 860 Evo 2TB, 1 x 1TB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair RM650x 80 PLUS Gold 650W PSU.
July 21, 200817 yr If you're just looking to compress them, then have a try with Windows Media Encoder - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...er/default.mspx (free) or DivX (30 day trial) - www.divx.com. I use WME, (and also the SDK, that will let you batch encode) and the results are perfectly acceptable, even left to the default values.HTH, LeoLeo Godalming UKhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpgMSI P6N PlatinumXFX GeForce 512MB 8800 GTSQuad Core E6600 @2.4GHz3GB Corsair PC2-6400WD 250GB for Flight SimHitachi Deskstar 500GB - Dedicated FSXP, Regular XP and Vista Louise London, UK
July 21, 200817 yr Author LeoThanks for the reply. I'm not an expert in this field and myproblem has been that the FRAP generated avi is huge and wheneverI've tried to convert it to a smaller file, the loss of image qualityhas been quite noticeable. Will try using Windows Media Encoder andsee what results I get.Regards Joaquin Blanco Intel Core i9-9900K at 5Ghz, Corsair Hydro H100i RGB PLATINUM CPU cooler, Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E,Motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB GDDR6, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Memory, 500GB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 PCIe,2TB Samsung 860 QVO Solid State Drive, 2TB, 2 x Samsung 860 Evo 2TB, 1 x 1TB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair RM650x 80 PLUS Gold 650W PSU.
July 21, 200817 yr You need two things1. The right codecs for the compression you want2. An audio/video processor.I did a quick test. I captured a FRAPS video that whensaved was 159 Mb. I ran it through the freeware programvirtualdub from here: http://www.virtualdub.org/index using an XVid video codec and the Lame mp3 audio codec. The result was878 Kb. Didn't try to closely compare quality, but you cantune some of that.Another tool is the free version of Any Video Converter from here:http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/This one, also using XVid, resulted in 736Kb finished file. You could also try an MPEG-4 codec. In AVC that resulted in 881 Kb file size.scott s..
July 21, 200817 yr Hi,It's also a other very simple solution for reduce size !If you use XP or Vista OS .. use Movie Maker .. it's builtin the OSWinXP Movie Maker location:C:Program FilesMovie MakerResults are acceptables and ideal for post on a online video host.Small tutorial here:http://rapidshare.com/files/129231312/Tutorial.pdf.htmlOr RTFhttp://rapidshare.com/files/129233267/VIDEOS_TUT.rar.htmlCheers.
