Fl355?

Recommended Posts

Why is it that the MD11 will often decide that my step climb should be FL355 of FL335 or FL345 instead of rounding it to the nearest 1000?It doesn't do it all the time and I'm just trying to figure this out. Thanks!

MD11 doesnt decide the step climb altitude, you do, she only decides where to step, what you are seeing is probably the maximum or optimum FL

When you set the altitude knob and go over the intended value for a few moments before dialing it back, then the FMS will change your flight plan altitude. Go to the INIT page and re-enter the desired altitudes to fix it.

This happens to me - for example, in the tutorial flight I enter "370" as my CRZ altitude on INIT and dial "37000" in on the FCP, but 37000 shows in white on the FMA. If I click the altitude setting on the FCP up to "37500" then the FMA shows 37500 in magenta, suggesting that's what it thinks is the profile setting.Mitchell
