Fixed Spot camera

Featured Replies

I am using FSX to help me learn to fly a remote control helicopter. I found a view that was perfect for this... Fixed spot. I entered it by going to spot view and cycling through the views in category. I was in multiplayer then, then I exited the session and went to free flight. That was the first and last time I was able to enter "Fixed Spot". The "top down view" appeared in the rotation instead even after leaving the game and restarting. How do I reliably enter "Fixed Spot"?"Fixed Spot" is like the "Observer" camera in FLY II. Your view is centered on the airplane and tracks it with no lag. As a heli does a hovering 360 to the left, you would (for example) see the tail facing you then left side facing you then nose facing you then right side facing you then tail facing you. This is perfect for practicing heli flight on helis that react slower than the ones on RealFlight G4.5 RC sim.Any ideas???Donald T.

I know what you're talking about but I don't know why it would have changed. Under the fsx camera.cfg settings I use this for locked spot, try it:[CameraDefinition.004]Title = Locked SpotGuid = {BCA3FDD1-FB83-4BBA-8407-4922A7F0D00D}Description = This is the description of the spot view.Origin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseTrack = FixedChaseLockedShowAxis = NoAllowZoom = YesInitialZoom = 1.0SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = FALSETransition = YesShowLensFlare=TRUECategory = OutsideClipMode = SpotPitchPanRate=30HeadingPanRate=75PanAcceleratorTime=0HotKeySelect=3

Either assign a key combination to this view, via the Controls menu, oralt/views/etc should get you to where you want to be..

You can also right-click on any 3d view window and get a context menu that will let you change views (the spot and top down modes are in the submenu off the second item on that menu) - also lets you undock the window, show/hide the menu bar, etc :-> .Tim
