Major FSX performance issues - i7 build. Confused!

Featured Replies

FSX should not have come out when it did. They should have put more work into it, especially with multi-core cpus.

You are definitely correct on this. FSX doesn't use the other 4 hyperthread cores, thus only utilizing 50% of the CPU horsepower. Because of this fact, I just turn the hyperthreading off.

Hyperthreading is not as good as it is claimed to be, so I would leave it off. Also Core i7 was not out back then when FSX was released and the Core 2 Duo and Quads do not have hyperthreading. The ACES team have put a tremendous amount of work into this game and I think everyone can agree it is complete. The only thing is the rendering engine is a bit rusty and uses old techniques and utilizes the CPU in situations when GPU would be a better choice. You should read this thread:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...t&p=1534164and you should definitely read this thread:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...thread&st=0
